I have it on my laptop and I think it is blocking obsidian even though I exit the program because I have made an exception in my windows firewall and I dont have any other anti virus or anything like that. I have windows xp professional or watever. Im pretty sure its compatible with obs. Im just lost and dont know wat to do lol. Here is a screen shot of my error when i try to connect. And my username and password are correct.

Turn your firewall off and try it, then you will know for sure if that is the problem.

That forefront thing is separate from the actual Windows firewall. If I was in his shoes, I would just completely uninstall forefront. It sounds like worthless crap for "super users" from what I've read. Unless this is some work-provided laptop or something where he doesn't have permissions to do that.

Well I found out thats not the problem lol. My firewall is ok i turned it off and still a no go. I think there is something wrong with the connection path my computer is trying to take. I ran a trace and It says time out about halfway through it and i tried to ping the server and i just keep getting a timed out message. So i dont think thats anything I can fix. So idk wat to do lol. I cant uninstall the forefront thing but it is a worthless piece of s***

That's actually probably an issue with your ISP. A friend of mine had the EXACT same problem! Call your ISP, tell them your issue. They may get you to type some command prompt stuff or whatever, but in the end, my friend ended up getting on. Funny thing for him was, he was on the same ISP as me! I could connect but he couldn't. lol weird.

go to the help desk and ask who the internet service provider is
then call them,
and u might need to go to the help desk again to get the info to tell the ISP whats going on / get them to edit stuff on the schools connection.
