Here's my question guys... If you want to raise skill, does the difficulty of the task count on the skill gain? Or the simple act of using the skill raises it?

For example: I want to gm a tailor and he fails a lot making robes. Is it better just to make simple items like bandanas.

Remember I'm not talking about the financial return on this, but simply gaining skills.

Thanx.

repetition for the most part, but some are on difficulty, well sort of. Mining you gain faster when you mine harder to find ores, at least that's what I've been told.

like duncan said most people say its strictly repitition based.

id have to agree for the most part if not all.

It's based enough off repetition that you shouldn't bother using a spell like FS or Ebolt to train magery, merely use something like fireball, magic arrow, or cure.

Less mana = more casts = more chances to gain.

Fishing rods IMO, are the best way. Dye tubs were okay for money, but have since been tweaked accordingly, and besides, you can use fishing rods on a fisher (if you've got one)

taming is based off difficulty... but mainly repitation... like at higher skills u need to tame harder animals to get any gains

No...
Duo knew about it the first day broadband changed the prices on tubs. It wasn't a major issue, so it didn't deserve an emergency patch, so he fixed it when he could. :P
