First of all, I hope this doesnt come off the wrong way, I am not meaning to be rude or disrespectful to the staff, because they do have my respect, but I think that it would be a benefit to both the players and the staff if someone would sit down and get the rules straight to this game. It reminds me of a bunch of 6 year olds playing a game, everytime someone doesnt like a rule they change it- apparently it doesnt matter if they have the athority to do it or not. It would help avoid alot of crap like this taming thing in the future. The players never know now what will get them jailed or worse their stats and skills penalized by what staff member. We know that AFK/macroing is illegal, please tell us what else is illegal that has been agreed on by all staff.

I won't give you your skill points back because you were training it AFK.
Whether you are doing other things on the PC or taking a dump is irrelevant. If you are unable to respond to a staff member then you are effectively AFK... and the skill drop was for doing something a GM told you not to the very day before.

I *THOUGHT* the AFK stone was introduced to give people that window of time to responde? It it VERY easy to miss someone typing in-game when you have macro's going...

I guess not! I guess you better keep your eyes glued to the screen. So you can respond in less then a min.

I agree, also I have heard of this happening but have never seen it, but i heard that sometimes staff like to hide macro stones in chests and stuff so unless you are actually watching the words scrolling down the screen, the stone would be very hard to miss.
BTW, since Thassius is apparently watching this thread, yes Thassius I know that I have been caught AFK before too, I had thought that I had logged but I didnt and went to take a shower. When I came back you were about four steps in front of me, believe me that was punishment enough, I almost s*** myself. But I have never been AFK/macroing I shut of my macro and log even just to pee. Just thought that you should know lol

lol... I miss little events and suck of things scolling up, I just set a macro, and leave my finger on it whistle I got my TV beside my monitor....
Away from keyboard? nah my finger stayed on the macro, and I look at my screen every few seconds...
But even when nothings on TV, and I watch the screen, I still miss things, cause the messages of "you are already doing an action" go like 50 times before it does the skill again, so It takes up my hole screen almost.

who in their right mind doesnt read a book or something while macroing? if some staff is being funny trying to catch ppl out, obviously he will... that's why there are macro stones.. to just "prove" you aren't sleeping or something...

The punishment would have been infinitely less severe if the player in question was not warned for an identical situation the previous day by another GM.
It is important that all punishments and rulings are taken within context.
Now, in terms of the rules, from the longer-standing staff members there has never been much real confusion. What has caused confusion is some of the newer staff (I'm not saying anyoner in particular) taking incorrect/erroneous approaches with certain decisions, which of course gives the illusion of staff-wide confusion when in fact the confusion only pertains to the staff member in question.
In this instance, the confusion arose because two GM's had to make a call until an admin could clarify their stance. Once this is done, then the other staff are happy to fall in line.
You will find that, once the new rules are updated, there will be less confusion but alot of what is in the new rules will be as myself and the other GM's have ruled the whole time. Personally I've been staff for two years so I like to think that my level of judgement exceeds that of a 6 year old.
I'm sorry that this has caused any unneccessary confusion for any of you, and rest assured that all staff will be working to act as a more consistant unit from now on.
Personally, I'm looking to encourage more active use of the Staff IRC channel that Outz so kindly provided for us.
That way, there will be a shorter resolution time for queries such as this one.
Thanks.
