Hi, I just started about a day ago, and I read the post someone said about starting a "tank mage" And using reactive armor and protection. Well I've been doing that but I have a few questions.

I know when I die and poof, they automatically go away.
But how long do they last if I don't die?

And I have a question about the weapons I'm using.
Which is better to train with?

+7 katana of power of obsidian
katana of total leech
Normal Long sword
Normal viking sword

The reason I have these weapons is because I didn't JUST start. I had a character before but I didn't like him so I'm starting over with a new one.

If someone could give me some answers that'd be great. :)

I'd suggest on using a BA,which is rather quicker then those other swords . The reactive and AR spell tend to last a few minutes, just look at your AR when it's down again, simply cast it again :)

But BA is two handed right, meaning I can't use a shield?

RA, prot lasts for 5 minutes. You get RA, nightsight auto casted on you on
some tiles in Cove (poofing spot, near dummies, mining tunnel).

Train with store bought katana or cutlass as you need to hit fast and not
do much damage in order not to kill your target too fast.

yeah - like regiss says!

I'd say a scimitar is faster than the katana and cutlass, but it will certainly kill things more quickly...

training with a BA is for noobs

hehe making a tank eh?
Well Glad to see someone else starting a tank besides me^_^
so i shall give you a small guide for starting a tank as a noob
________________stats________________

when you first start off the best thing for you to train is macing
I was new when i started my tank (well wasn't new at all but i was a noob and didn't take anything serious until i started sub)
But I used macing to get my str up to 100 than i dropped it for swords (which i regret) so you might want to use macing for now and drop your existing swords now
train macing using a smithing hammer it gives the fastest gains in str. and fastest macing gains

when your complete with training that your following skills should be near to or complete-
tactics
healing
macing
(and get anatomy to 60.0 real if it's not there already)

i'll finish the guide in school when i have nothing to do, atm it is WAAAAAAAY to hot and I pooped out,
but that should last you anyway, you shouldn't really need much besides that until later,

Any other advice I'd like though.

If you drink alcohol while training you'll be able to get over 75..

Indeed, that was a serious post... the different alcohols in the game temporarily lower your stats, so that while your stats are lowered, you could get another gain. Then, when your stats go back to normal, you're over the typical stat gain limit for a given skill

and since you're using magery you can always cast 'weaken' on yourself.

my advice would be not to worry about the str gain just yet - get it to 75 using swords first, and then INSTEAD of alcohol (which is an excellent way to raise it) try hunting some easy to kill monsters which will lower your str - it's just a bit more exciting!

There is an ideal spot, PM me if you'd like to know it.

And just one more thing: when sifting through different advice on how to train a character, just remember that Emo knows the best methods to get the job done!
