I am a firm beleiver that maybe useless cannom balls that may blow up the world shouldnt be allowed because they are an event item.

But everyday items that are just coloured differently should they rly be illegal? should a different style or hue of somthing be illegal just because someone chooses to look differently?

Echo butchers up peeps with black hair because he so says "it is a bug that creates the black hair"

Other items such as fishing poles and bows are taken away because they are green or blue and the excuse is "it is a bug that creates them" NO it is not a bug that creates them it is a bug that changes the hue of them.

Really who on obsidian minds looking at a players black hair or blue fishing pole or red bow? Thats right, No one if anything it adds to the excitement and personality of the individual player and how he/she decides to decorate their character/characters.

So this is my opinion and i honestly beleive that this rule should be changed.

But honestly how does it disbalance the game in any way?

AMIRITE MEN!!! :)

I dont see the harm in having black hair. As long as I have been playing obs, ive seen it, done it and fully agree that it shouldnt be tampered with. It just adds a little something to your char that makes you stand out from the crowd.
It isnt giving you an advantage over anything but appearance, which is really harmless IMO.

if you have black hair it might stunn a noob into thinking your a GM, thus it is illegal! lolz  :?
and someone might get seizure from you running after them with your black hair and white robe and hat, thus giving you a distinct advatage!
durrrrr! thats obviously the reason it's illegal :)

ps. I r voted NO

I say "Yes", because it doesn't bring variety to chars' appearance, but
makes everyone use it.

What would be nice is if we could use tailor created special colors for hair,
leather and possibly some wooden items.

BLACK hair, BLACK items..heh..the proverbial forbidden fruit. If everyone could have them nobody would care for them. Bring back black and disable..erm..let's say red. Then red would be the color of choice. I know, if you have your heart set on black....go red now and beat the rush.

Bugs are bugs, and are illegal no matter what.

The fact that certain people know how to exploit these bugs to use them at will makes no difference.
The fact that they are considered "harmless" in that they don't let you pvp people, makes no difference.

It still does the three things that all bugs do:
1. Not everyone can do it, so it's automatically unfair. And no, don't just use the excuse that you can tell them, or that everyone will learn how to do it. That's not how you balance a game. People shouldn't have to learn glitches to play a game.

2. It unbalances the game. Maybe it won't kill people, but it does make their lives harder. People who want to get ahead and look a little different, or who want to decorate to impress, should not have to abuse a bug to do so. Likewise, the amount of rare colored items/unique items in the game is limited for a reason, so that people who focus on collecting have something to do, and so that accomplishments such as quests or gm skills that grant special items mean something.

3. It is a trust issue. This argument is always the weakest, but when it comes down to it, there is always a fight on staff vs players on any game because whether a bug does anything useful isn't the point, the point is that players don't always know how and why things are balanced the way it is, and so they should never exploit any bugs. If a player is going to exploit one bug they think is harmless, they may exploit another one that they also think is harmless, while both bugs may have a very real affect on the game to the hinderance of other players.

Do the items grant uber pvp skillz?

No

Do they still ruin the game for other players?

Yes

Also, the other argument against bugs like this, that isn't based in logic, is that they make the shard look ugly and like every other shard out there with 15,000,000 colors.

I know that the current carpentry bug isn't that bad since it sticks to a very small subset of colors, same w/ the blacksmithing and tinkering bugs, but again, even if they didn't, players would still think they are harmless.
Harmless != not helping you kill other players.

It sounds to me like you're just complaining that you can't use a bug that makes your life easier and makes you feel special.

Well too bad.

If you want special colors, work to be in events and quests, they are rewards there sometimes. Or work to get rich and trade them from some other players.

You shouldn't be able to use any bug you want just because you want to and you feel you are "justified" by getting easily what other players work for. Obsidian has always been a low special color shard, and that's because special colors actually has significance and means the person worked a little to get something. Not just abused a bug in character creation.

For the Too long/don't read crowd:

1. Not everyone does it, so it's not fair.
2. It's unbalanced. it doesn't have to be pvp to affect game balance
3. If staff have to mistrust players and assume they use bugs they think are "harmless", it makes their lives harder, because most players don't know what bugs are harmless. This bug is not harmless.

BB decides what is illegal and what isn't, and we enforce his wishes not yours. Also Echo is a GM so if you have any concerns about his staffing decisions you should be PMing him rather than opening forum debate.

This equation sums it up:

BB>You, therefore
(You-BB)=FA1L

Don't be a cockmunch dude, I've known you a long time and I'm just frustrated to see yet another player thread challenging established shard policy in the obsidian discussion forum.

Perhaps i'd be more inclined to pop online if I didn't have to put up with infantile comments like that on the forums. Yes I work alot of hours and have better things to do in my spare time than to help provide a free service in return for sarcasm.

Echo isn't 'the only GM online who make decisions', because it isn't his decision to make. It is Broadband's. Echo is not responsible for this - the decision is already made for us we are merely the hammer that the hand wields.

Whether you meant Echo or GM's in general (you actually named Echo, so you lose) is irrelevant. Openly attacking staff policy on the forums is just stupid, because with regards to this particular issue we follow BB's guidelines, and it is his shard. In fact the general staff stance on colourful items is actually slightly more lax - for instance custom coloured event trophies are actually illegal under BB's GM rules.

So your pretty much telling us to shut up about it because its deemed illegal by BB but Gm's can go ahead and break the rules by giving out colored trophies?

in both your posts thass you say i loose? is it a competition? i dont feal the need to compete with the likes of a forum trolling staff member, to me i see you as bad as Emo, running around commenting on a shard you dont even play on, at least hes banned whats your excuse? Echo is a good guy and i knew by this thread nothing would be changed i just wanted to see opinions of the players of obsidian so if you would be so kind as to lock this thread and stop attempting to insult me, would be much appreciated.
