The old testament was taken from stories that occured thousands of years before the birth of christ, so of course its going to be an exageration of the truth.

As i said, I believe God is real, and I dont think you can call God a scam. Maybe religion, yes religion, non believers could class that as a scam, as they may have been using God as a means to control the populous. Religion and God are totally different things. God imo is a being, where as Religion is a notion about a being.

You speak of God being the cause of so many deaths, again this is religion and man's perception od the "true" god. Those ppl who died in the name of God, died due to religion, and ppl fighting over opposing religions. Look at it as in obsidian as you say, Chaos and Order are always battling, these guilds have opposing views, same as religion. Man's nature is to be wary of things that aren't the same as them.

And again as I said I believe in God, not religion, which is the true cause of all those deaths.

I beleive that everything is eternal and if everything goes forever somthing has to happen somewhere sometime so maybe in all the nothingness somthing happened and made some matter and that matter combusted and made more matter and all of it expanded and shit and eventually became planets and rocks and shit . And on one planet for some reason or another somthing mixed and made a tiny lil organizm able to reproduce and evolve in to other creatures and eventually made humans. I beleive that when we die we are dead. I do beleive in ghosts but i only think ghosts are the beings of one who died and somehow left the corpse. When i die i want to be buried and lay for eternity dead in darkness.

Just a note to everyone here: Religion is a sticky topic to get into. So long as people don't have huge arguements I'll let the thread run.

It's always nice to hear what other people believe and think. Gives some insight into the people who play here

I see religion being differentiated from belief in god and put to the wall. That's a good thing, the bad thing is I had some nice arguments against religion that now would be no fun sharing since I don't stand alone, lol.

In short, they concerned the subversive power of religion that turns weak/naive people into fanatics, now that's something I can't tolerate, a sort of dominance way beyond any political tactic, as it involves strong belief and deep human feelings, and which can make you do all sort of crappy things, killing and suicide included.

Skipping this and getting to the "God" part of the issue, there are many theories related to the birth of the universe, some state an extraterrestrial form having created all this, but that is built on the same core as the idea that "God" created all. So, however you put it, it's in our nature to find the simplest solution to an unsolved problem. Attributing all the credits of something we can't explain yet to a creature of supreme power that we have no proof of is the shortest way to find comfort in having an explanation for a fact so complex that science (which, by the way, makes short but safe paces towards better understanding the world we live in) hasn't managed yet to establish.

I don't think believing in god makes us more beautiful, smarter, more powerful, and so on and so forth. It just limits our ways of seeing life, it makes us miss many things. I am definitely an adept of skepticism, not a fanatic skeptic (lol) but I like to keep an open mind and to use ration as much as I can as our main distinctive feature of all animals.

i am a christian and proud of it.

i am not perfect only jesus is and i know i do a lot of things i shouldnt, but lucky for me jesus died for my sins and then he was risen and when i die he will bring me to heaven with him because he loves me even though im a sinner and i accept his sacrifice he made for me. he will forgive us if we ask him to.

i thank god everyday for my friends and family and you guys as well cause i love obsi its good times and friendship.
