I've been to pretty much all the islands in game now. And it wasn't really that much of an accomplishment it was more like, "You have a rune for there, cool can I use it?" |

We started Obsidian back in December of 1999 and the only options at the time were TUS and UOX. We tried both but felt more comfortable with TUS which became Sphere in early 2000. Unfortunately Menasoft thought it would be a great idea to code a new version that while sporting many new features would require everyone to redesign their worlds and rewrite all their code. We had already spent way too much time and had a hugely established shard at that point and decided otherwise. As of now we run Obsidian Server which is a hybrid of Sphere and a bunch of custom code that we've implemented throughout the years. We'll never switch to the flavor of the week emulator as it would require us to pretty much start over and the idea of a world wipe along with losing alot of our unique functionality didn't seem like a good option. I love that you feel strongly about that, cause I'd leave Obsidian if it switched anything else. |
