I remember the good ol' days, when losing my ride meant that I spent my time at Vesper bank shouting (or spamming MSN) til I got a tamer to sell me a new ride.

Instead of paging staff to get my old one.

Oh wait, that means I have a great idea.

No pet protection pots = 1 less thing to bugfix + more trade for tamers + less pages for staff.

I'll have to take it up with BB when I see him... :(

Naww, BB introduced them but if he realises the implications he'll see the common sense of it. He certainly was never one to get angry at criticism if it was constructive and logical.

I doubt he counted on the staff burden, nor the impact on Tamer trade, when he first implemented the idea.

We shall see.

I don't think they should be removed completely, but i think being able to guard someone who is trying to kill your ride is enuf protection. They probsbly will end up being removed or staying the same but it would be great if it were possible to change them so they only make rides blue.

for once, i have to agree: pet protect pots are just gay... where is the fun?? the dead stangs by the bank? the dead pegasus or orn? it was part of the game for a while!

Update: In addition to paging from your house to get your ride back, if you don't page soon enough and your ride goes wild then you won't be able to retrieve it.

Echo staff goes long enough without getting on at all for them to go wild so..

Also tamers are fine. 40k for a pink stank according to price lists is just fine. I pay 2k for horses. 2k for one seconds work. YOu can make a new tamer who instantly tames horses. Clear a spawn with your warrior who gets training from it so its not lost time. Then u get a ride almost every time for almost no work at all. Go try to make 2000 gp with a new warrior or mage, even a miner or fisher has to sit there and work at it.. tamers dont work uless they wanna make huge bucks on stangs and oytras and pegasus.

And vlad i gotta say this.. Killing rides in town is weak as hell man, Kill em out of town sure when you are taking some kinda risk... The only ones anyone ever hurts from killing peoples rides in town are people who are broke while taking no risk of their own at all (since the attacker cant be looted if you defend your life successfully and turn the tables) and they have enough money for the horse they are riding.. I just think its too easy so theres 250k you just spent on an oytra ganked away in town where the people killing it have no reason not to trade their shit rides for your oytra

This=Noone ever riding good rides.. If somone else kills yours right there and then you all kill theirs then fine. But be cordial to each other for the most part and people will stay playing longer than if we all go around screwing each other at every turn we can find.

ok and if you page directly after the horse is sent to the tutorial, can we still retreive it if it goes wild while waiting on staff to log on? or whenever it goes wild it just cannot be retreived anymore?

If you can't defend your fancy ride or can't afford to lose one just don't
ride it. Simple as that. Want to show off to noobs at bank? Pay the price.

Keeping your ride fed allows for ~24h for it to go wild (except Llamas) in
case it poofs to Tutorial. Hence the request for you to page from INSIDE
your house, so staff know where to put it if you're offline. And I hardly
see 6-8 hours in-game without some staff logging in.

This whole bit of nonsense is obviously from someone who never had a tamer. You think you just go out an start killing a couple of birds and a horse/stang/peg just pops up? Sometimes 3 or 4 hourly clearings of the same spot may produce 1 llama or horse and if you are not 1 of the many tamers on the shard to find it all that work was for nothing. Any less than 2k for a horse would make it completely not even worth the time or effort. And as far as stangs go well that is another matter entirely. If you were lucky enough to clear a spot that some other poor prick cleared many times b4 you you might get 1 after the first clearing but usually it takes sometimes weeks.
