I'd like to amend my response.

1, 2, 3, 4 ...only IF it means that NOTHING will be made inferior to what it currently is.

Bob has a very rich history of giving us a grand improvement, but something always has to be taken away that was equally grand.

Be careful of what we wish for...or rather, how we wish for it.

I personally think that 1,2,3,4 would be good to implement.

Making items with more expensive ores simply have higher durability would be completely useless, because standard GM crafted iron weapons are so cheap and easy to produce.

Why would anyone want to waste rose ingots on a kryss for durability, when they could just take 5 GM iron kryss's with them?

I think that allowing the weapons to scale with damage would be a fantastic idea... and given the relative rarity of the stronger ores I don't think it would ever become a balance issue.

In fact, it would give some interesting diversity to crafting.

Bob: An additional idea for you (which I presume is possible to code???)

I expect this would give the opportunity for alloy and mixed material crafting. If it possible to code this into the shard to make new and exciting weapons it would be interesting.

For example, to see a battle axe which requires wood for the shaft and mixed metals for the blade. For instance, Valorite + Blackrock = Nightforge Battleaxe.

Once the system had been implemented, it may even be possible to use other ingredients. E.g Demon's Blood + Verite = Unholy Kryss.

We could have alot of fun with this ;)

PS. If it's not possible with UO (which wouldn't surprise me, then nevermind.... it was a cool idea :P)

can i change mine to 5, 6?

because with necros not being able to wear any good armor,
warriors will decemate them with ease... EASE

prolly 1,2,3,4 will change the point of view and working of necro armors...so i'd keep the 1,2,3,4 and wait then for necros to be tweaked, patches still come out everyday so why decline this good idea for an issue that can be solved in the future patches?

I like those metal substitutes idea tho...why not letting it go? This would totally change the economy then...

I've seen now that a few are playing. smiths selling off Verite sets for 5k? That's a shame.

But you know, smithing is totally screwed, nobody hunts or pvps often anymore so there is no reason for ppl to buy new armors...and now that the days are calm everybody is making a smith and that would mean personal armor and no more selling, if not really really cheap...

I personally get more money training Tailoring than selling armors to ppl..
