but i wanna craft bows ...and make leather armor
and i want to be an elv.
Any suggestions what kind of Elv (craftsman) should i be to craft bows and leather armor? and what skills should i get at start?

p.s. as i read again "Lister's lair" and as long i understand Frost Elves are good at Blacksmithing, mining, tinking (everything with iron), Wood Elves are good at Bowcrafting, lumberjacking, carpentry (wood stuff).....
maybe they get bonus or something.....so that means i'd better go wood elv?

The difference between the different crafters in the different races are the skills they start off with...

You have two important numbers you wanna understand...One is skills (lbacksmithing, swordsmanship etc) the other is stats (trength, dex and int)...When you create a character your choice of race determines what skills and at what level you begin the game with...The choices you make under character creation are replaced by pre-programmed skillsets...The same with your stats...

The only exception to this are human...They get to keep the 2-3 skills they choose during character creation, thus making for 'faster' crafters as they can start with say 50 fishing / 50 cooking (or mining/smithing or whatever)...Humans disadvantage is, that they can have less total skill points than the other races (only 680 unlike the others that have 760)...Their advanteges are: being able to choose two skills at 50, being able to get 100 in any skill and being able to wear all armour and wield all weapons...So very versitile, but with no special abilities and lower skill cap...

Each race has a number of classes, each class begin with a different skill- and statset...So a frostelf cleric will begin with different skills and stats from a frostelf crafter...All classes of all races are capped in certain skills and some are also limited in what armour and weapons they can wield...Being capped means that vampire warroir f.ex. can't get a magery of more than 30...

The main problem with playing around with the not-so-used classes is that their caps may not have been discovered yet...It would be a shame to attempt to train someone as a mage or alchemyst, only to discover, that they cannot get the skill higher than 50 or 80 or something...So far, only the most often chosen classes have pretty well documented caps...

The frost elf crafter is generally accepted as being 'the' craft char on this shard...They c gm 7 craft skills, are AFAIK not capped on any craftskills and have speciel aanbilities that let them paralyse and if necesarry flee almost instantly from any pk...Only prob with them is, that youstart relativly low on most craftskills...Also, all skills can be bought from an NPC to somewhere between 26-36 or so, so skills that are 30 or lower, are generally not considered worth any speciel attention, as anyone can get them there for a few hundred gold...

If some of this has already been mentioned in previous posts, I apoligise for syaing it again...

just turn on imagination:
...
You got 2 characters. They are both GM Tailor and GM Bowcrafters...
but one is wood elv, and another is a frost elv...
now.. all i wanted to know, is: are their crafting talents are the same? (like no race bonus or smth?)

oh and Arms Lore and Item ID are skills that crafter must have, right?

mm in my opinion the best way if u want fast gain good results of crafting is human becouse u can choose to skill to 50 and can lean any skill u wand and use any item u want i think its good point! only one minus is that human dont have special abilities and can learn six skill to gm (i think.. :D ) But its verry good.. This is only my opinion :P And about talent i think all chars got the same luck but i dont know verry well :D

there is no difference in skill between a GM bowcrafter/ tailor wood elve or ice elf.

a wood eleve will prob start with their skill in bowcrafting higher than a ice elf would, but at tghe end, they will both be equal.

100 in a skill is 100 in a skill...Dun matter what race or class you are...

And Item ID is no must, that's only if you wanna help people out by ID'ing their magic weapons...Armslore is a must for blacksmiths if you wanna help people by repairing their armour (and most BS' do, as repairing gives good BS gains)...It helps give the items the best durability IIRC...

thats what I've been saying the whole time; when all is said and done and you have 7 GM skills, frost elf is the way to go
