well bass and bluegill fishing are completley differnt.. with bluegill you use live bait and a little hook with a bob usually... for bass fishing you use fake bait such as a pink worm or lizards with a much bigger hook... or you could take them snag fishing :)

Well for Bluegill/crappie good places are near artiicial structures built in the lake, such as docks. I dont know how it is where you live but where we are at there are Crappie houses built on the lake with open centers. Catfish is another simple one, if you can deal with the smell of the bait, some of the best bait for cats is extremely smelly(aged cheese and garlic) hence the name stink bait, catfish simple, throw a bobber/ or a bell on the end of the rod and chill and have a good time. you can do bass with live bait as well, Shad work well if you want a less active approach to bass fishing, let the shad do the work for you, tho it takes a bit of practice hooking them without killing them. Some cats will also bite on shad as well :) Have fun.

Trips to the park and some kites are always fun as well.

I have 2 young kids of my own(6 & 3) and what you do with them isn't really important even to take them outside and kick a ball with them they will remember that you were there with them more than what it was that they did.
