To answer your questions :
No, don't make a fighter/crafter hybrid - the fighter side especially will suffer hugely. If you want any 'combat' skill to train on your crafter, choose magery - because it will allow you to 'mark' runestones that will allow you to 'recall' (teleport) instantly to specific areas (eg to travel to a good mining spot or to return to your house to drop off goods). It will also allow you to quickly escape from combat situations.
For your main character, make a pure warrior or mage, and use one or more of your other 4 character slots for crafter character(s). If you want to exchange items between characters, then leave a door key from your house (when you buy one) somewhere secretive and pick it up with your other character(s). That way they can let themselves into your main house and drop things in the secure chests so that your main character (the one that placed and owns the house) can retrieve them.
Secondly, dropping skills if you regret them is easy. You simply need 'Forgetful Fish' (players will abbreviate these to FFF). Forgetful fish when eaten will drop 10 points in a particular skill. These can be purchased from other players (pricing varies with the economy and the skill you wish to drop). Alternatively, if you train a fisherman then you can fish your own - alongside stat fish (which increase STR/DEX/INT) and a few other useful items. However, training fishing skill is time consuming and boring - although worthwhile in the long run!
Hope this helps... and look forward to seeing you ingame soon

well i been playing for about almust 4 year and stettin one of the best skill here to star is a fisherman you ask why: after you GM it you have the posiblity to make lot money and you save stat fish that cox lot money after that you can make a warrior or mage. warrior for me was more fun but like those days i dedicate to my warrior 8 hour or more some times iven 1 day trainign it. the more you dedicate to it the better you get and more fun you have. mages are no hard but need lot dedicacion and time and importan money, regs cost to much. but you can hunt it in wrong.
the most importan skill in game now for me 1)fishing 2)alchemy 3)taming i recomende you create firts a warrior so you can get to know more about the game and feel free to ask any question to any player in game, i am prety sure they will help you. welcome and enjoi.
P.S yes i have more that 3 years and still have fun!!!!!!!!!

It's probably not a good idea to make a mage right away cuz regs are expensive and we don't need anymore noobs at brit bank trying to bum cash If you want to make a fighter i suggest a warrior first fpr sure.

I think it took me about a month to GM fishing. I still have not GMed cooking. I gave up at about 96 and it's been there for the last few years.
It only took me a few weeks to GM mining and Smithing, but I had a bit more free time when I was working those.
I think it took me about a year to go from store-bought to 60 alchemy. I was working it on and off when I had regs to spare. When I finally decided to quit f***ing around, it took me about 2 weeks to go from 60 to GM.
My warrior is about finished after 2 years. I think I only need resist before it’s time to change up skills and start again.
My mage and tamer are barely playable....I should really do something about those one of these months.
