well that was easy for u but not all of us macro that skill, i remember that i spend alot of ppl stacking steaks in a bag 1 by 1 , and took me more then 36hrs to GM that skill, took maybe 1 month or something like that and like 10k steaks plus small fishes. but thats not the point the point is the gain system and the "idea" from staff about it

Actually the point was while checking balance on all skills, i noticed cooking had a lot less effort spent to gm in it than i originally thought. Therefore a lot of the new cooking ideas we would not be able to implement because they were worth more effort points than cooking had at GM.

So i proposed making cooking a harder skill, in return for being able to make better gm items.

As i said, it's up to you all. Keep the discussion up, i'll put a poll up nearer to the date the cooking patch will happen and we'll see what people want. I just figured i'd give you the option of picking which one ya wanted, knowing the pros/cons of each, and giving you time to discuss.

But apparently giving knowledge of ideas long before they might go in and letting people discuss gets staff called thoughtless, uncaring, and ignorant of player wants. :) But oh well, i'm ok with that, beacuse at least i tried.

And no, you do not need gm cooking for stat fish.
If you got 40(i think, i'd have to check), then you'll never burn one.
IT's a freaking fish.

And yes, we're lowering cooking to make the playing field more level. Regardless of how you got the skill, it's pretty worthless right now. By lowering people a bit, we can add in things that are actually worthwhile to the skill.
And it's also more of a fairness thing. Regardless of whether you macro'd it or pressed the lastobject button 50 million times, gming cooking was as easy as Gming item id.
Once the actual cooking system goes in, the skill will be as difficult as every other skill in the game.
ERGO, we are putting everyone where they would have been in they had worked with the new system the whole time.
Since cooking was insanely easy, the effort you put in to gm would only have gotten you to around 75-80% skill. Ergo that's where you start at.
You're not losing any time, and you'll still be able to make everything you could before plus tons of new s***. IT just also means you'll have to put in a tad extra time to earn a true gm skill.

The same will be said for item identification, begging, forensics, etc (when each skill is implemented).
The end goal, which probably won't happen this year, is to have NO USELESS SKILLS in obsidian.
And no, a skill having to be taken for another skill (like cooking fish) does not make it not useless. Being forced to take a skill isn't making it useful.

Hope that clears it up.
Cooking will NOT be in the crafting patch comming up, since it's a separate patch as a full skill implementation later on.
However cooking fish in general will be adjusted in the crafting patch
It is because of posts like this that you get the reaction you do. Even though it was obviously not your intention it sounded to most like we are doing it and f*&% you if you don't like it.
