Alright, Thass, I'll see if this example makes any sense to help clear this up... if not, I give you permission to apply backhands liberally to the side of my face This is my understanding of the speed of light (in a nutshell): Okay, Sub, think of car. Essentially, horsepower the biggest force that defines what the top speed of that car is, regardless of drag and friction. If you add more horsepower to the same car, it's top speed would be increased as an effect. As you continue to add horsepower, it takes more and more of an increase in ponies to get the same increase in top speed. Continuing the trend, sooner or later, you will be unable to add enough power to the car ("infinite horsepower") to boost the top speed any higher. The same goes for a particle of light. At some point, no amount of known force is going to get that thing to move any faster than it is, thus a finite speed limit while applying infinite force. |

lol Von that sounds like a good explanation. As you said, the closer to light speed, the more energy is required to provide additional acceleration moving towards infinity. The interesting bit is that time is also a variable. Time slows down as you approach the speed of light, so theoretically it is never possible to get there. Infinite force would be required to provide infinite acceleration, which would achieve light speed over a finite timeframe. By contrast, however, finite acceleration would require infinite time to reach light speed (ie never). So you can see, that for the 'equation' to balance, you can (theroetically) never reach lightspeed in the known universe. To achieve it within a finite timeframe requires infinite acceleration (impossible) fuelled by infinite energy (impossible). Interesting stuff |

hahaha your funny..... ps. thass good way of summing it up, but i still say it's no way of it having infinite energy, or it would travel infinitely fast and would have to be infinitely small (none existent) meaning its not matter which is stupid,,, well no matter anyway, within our life times we wont reach 1/2 the speed so why are we worried? lmao hell well be lucky to reach 1/32th of the speed |

Superman did it, he flew round the world so fast that he uhh reversed time so he could save Lois Lane from dying. Looks like Pie wins again! YAY me! |
