Longswords are fine, its broadswords that vanish, and I think they were removed from loot tables.

i wouldnt suggest repairing makes it last longer.. this has not been proven and i seem to find that my wepons get worse if i repair.... and seem to actualy last longer if i leave them alone....... its strane yes.. but needs to actually be cleared up by someone who knows all the details on it

If the weapon's getting damaged, or doesn't deal good damage, trash it. You don't want to lower its hp by repairing it and having funny surprises in the middle of a fight
a typical warrior vs mage fight consists of a broken weapon that can't damage for shit

Each time you repair an item the maximum durability of said weapon/armour is reduced. This is why you will often find that when wading into battle with armour that has been repaired alot of times it will break quickly.
Also, repaired weapons will gradually become worn quicker and quicker the more they are repaired.

Oh my, what is this, some sort of noob convention?
Repairing is a no-brainer, of course you repair. You dont chuck out your vanq ba cos it got damaged, u repair it and go again, and if you worried about its potential damage, and quicker wear out, you carry a spare or two. For when that less damage or breakage occurs. Sheeesh, waster ahoy.
