Post subject:  need help with connecting a router

ok heres the situation, my cuzin jus got a router not a wireless 1, and it wont work, he has Windows Xp and Norton Anti Virus, any suggestion on how 2 get it 2 work

your not really telling ppl much, what kind of router? oh and google is your friend. perhaps check out the manufacturers website to help troubleshoot.

tell ur friend to disable norton, because it causes the most problems

if its a used router, u should reset it(stick a pin where in dah hole where it says..........reset!) and then try installing the router info then it should work, thats what i did with myne yo.

its not used and the router brand is linksys or sumthing like that btw thass it came with no manual =/

i play obs. just fine with norton

he didn't say anything about not being able to play obs, now did he. He stated that the router didn't work, or connect

well he said norton antivirus, and that wont affect the router, norton internetsecurity is however another thing.

But did you connect your cables right? Your modem cable should go into the wlan port, and the cable from your network card should go into a lan port

Yeah Abib is right... best to jsut uninstall Nortan while you are troubleshooting the router.

the ports might be different speeds like the router can be high and the first comp is high but the second x box or other comp has a slower one and the router dont know wut to do,,, with both at diff. speeds errr or it can be norton anti virus,,, errr watch me be all lie,,, wrong :( hehehe i use my modem as a router (yes im that cheap)

If you have sp2 of Win Xp maybe the firewall didin't give the permission to obsidian to run.
Try to check if obsidian is in the list of programs that are abilitated to surf on the internet.
