RunUO=Teh Sucks. Obsidian is far too customised to ever become a RunUO shard

yes "obsidian" is well customised but not for RunUO, what do you know of RunUO?

I know enough, and I know that the emulator that Obsidian is running on is more capable than any of the runUO shards out there.

RunUO sucks alot. Getting a server customised to be exactly like Obsidian is now would take an insane amount of work. C# is nice, and you can do alot....but there's still alot you can't do, and there's still bugs.

Obsidian is one of the last (I think there's only one other) S-phere.51a server around, and it shouldn't change.

We periodically get these noob-comments regarding changing the Obsidian server emulator software but...why?

If you rewrote the shard for RunUO server it would be a) not quite the same b) a pointless and very lengthy exercise.

And if you wanted to change to RunUO to change the mechanics of the shard itself then it wouldn't be Obsidian anymore, would it?

As has been rightly said Obsidian has pushed the boundaries of the .51a S_p_h_e_r_e incarnation to become a completely unique shard with years of custom code, so why would we change that?

PS. I'm going to remove Sphere/Obsidian from the censor filter because I don't get why its there, it must have been added when we changed alot of the filters.

I would just like to see one docked somewhere to take you around to the islands. That would be cool. I know you can just use RC to get to most of them but this way would be much more fun.

I like the fact that boats are disabled. It brings a bit of mystery to a game that otherwise has been played to death over the last 7 years or so. Ya, there are islands that are dam near impossible to get to, but when you do finally reach one of them, it's a huge accomplishment. It's not something to take lightly.

For the lucky few who have found access to some of the harder islands to reach, not having boats is a great thing. To those that have not yet found one, patience is the key. When you find your island, you'll understand how good it feels to not have boats. And you will eventually find an island, everyone will if they are here long enough.

Heh, I have acess to basically all the acessable islands, yet, I still think boats would be pretty cool.

But yeah, with boats, it kinda ruins the whole "I own this island suckers" thing that alot of the vets get goin on.
