The ad's, I would imagine, are there to help BB with the money part of running a shard. If he needs to get a few sponsors, then so be it. Aslong as they aren't controlling how the shard is ran. (Which, I'm like 99% sure that Google isn't gunna try and take over Obsidian..)

obsidian has advertisements now???? "ads by gooooogle" lol

lol.. god damn marketing...

no one will click on those ads.... lol..

yea like... dont sell out..

BB is paying dreamhosters $100+ a year to host the forums so that they will be more stable. Since you don't want him "selling out" as you put it... maybe you should fork over a few years worth of payment and ask him to take them down?

I don't see a problem with unobtrusive ads.

Game, Set, and Match.

I see no reason for this post to continue. BB does what he wants with HIS shard. End of story.

$100 - Webhosting
$30 - Domains
$720 - Dedicated Fiber Optic Line
$30 - Electricity

Obsidian is costing me roughly $880 a year to keep running. If you find the ads so intrusive find another less professionally run shard.

And I highly doubt putting up a few non-intrusive ads makes me a sellout. Maybe you could even be kind enough to click on an ad or two if it's revelent to what you might need or want to help us out instead of bitching.

sell out
1) To betray one's cause or colleagues

i didnt say u were a sell out i was just speaking of the ads itself and with sites selling out and resorting to advertisements..

advertisements have always been a thorn in my side and these small google ads like in my gmail are hardly that bad at all

my apologizes if advertisements help the shard cost you less then that is the best thing

sorry
