Are you planning on picking up a second video card?

Not as yet, the 7800GT with the rest of the setup should obliterate most games at the VP930's native resolution of 1280x1024. I wanted to have an SLI-capable board though so that this would be an option in future...

If you can play Obs on it it must be cool.

So true, last time I bought a new gfx card i still spent all my time on obs :)
Still, I'm hoping this machine will be good for gaming, movies, and digital music creation - as well as work and internet browsing etc. the vp930 is also a semi-professional grade monitor for graphics work, which will be nice with the digicam.
I'm also looking forward to playing games like cs source with 5.1 surround on the xfi and logitech combo - that's $700 in audio equipment!

looks good, the only thing i would change would be the thermaltake golden orb for a zalman or thermalright cooler.

Thanks for the input Narcom. Personally I am concerned that Zalman coolers put more weight than i consider healthy on the processor sockets, and thermalright coolers are pretty noisy. The Zalman offerings also dont actually cool that well until you crank the fan up a little.

The thermaltake i think offers a good compromise as it has a good cooling ability but only runs at i think 1400-1800 rpm, which is a 1/3 that of the stock cooler so it will be pretty quiet. I'm also using the P150 which is an acoustically shielded case, so the noise should be fine. If it bothers me, then i will look at spending more on something like a zalman cooler or the thermaltake silent tower - but again, i personally hate the idea of having an even heavier cooler attached to my processor as I have previously damaged a motherboard this way during transportation. The golden orb is heavy enough!

this might be a little weird but get a fan support (a little stick for me) and just clear the area below which isnt that big of area no more than 1 circular cm which is probably not being occupied under the fan if u have the same type as me,,

New PC is now complete!

Fans/Case/PSU i chose very quiet, and whole system is cool. OCZ Platinum Memory and the Athlon 64 are both running at a minor 5% overclock, but the CPU is still sitting at 37 degrees :) Overclocking the graphics card core and memory by 10% is nice and stable. Overall I would say that the overclocking gives an extra 10% performance boost - im not into really pushing the hardware, but the extra gain is like spending $200 more on a better CPU.
Overall, I'm really happy with it... I would heartily recommend all the components. Oh, and the X-Fi combined with the logitech surround speakers is absolutely AWESOME.

I've been playing FEAR and HL2, with maxed details, 4xFSAA + 8xAF, with a 19" LCD, great frame rates and 5.1 surround sound. Its great fun!

Oh, and for the people out there who liked windowed cases, I found out after plugging it in that the thermaltake cooler has a blue LED in it which looks hot...

PS. I will actually be remembering to install Obs tommorow, see you soon!

Sounds pretty sweet, just finished mine a few months ago and topped it off with a sweet 19" LCD just a couple weeks back. No real speaker system a headset w/ mic is good enough for my useage.

but here's my specs
RaidMax Scorpio
Image
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
Azus Radeon X850 Pro
2GB Corsair Value Select 3200 DDR
300GB Maxtor ATA 7200RPM HDD
16X DVD Burner
16X HP LiteScribe DVD Burner
Video Capture Card /w tuner
System Blower
CMV 19' LCD 1280X1024 native

I'm most proud of the case got it for a song and it came with 5 case fans!
I don't have real quality parts, but it works perfect and out preforms most benchmarks for similar systems.

I personaly woulds recomend to get it water cooled. as quiet goes you cant beat it and and if you wanted to overclock it.. this would do the trick. i;ve never had a problem transporting it and i dont handle it taht gently eaither.

i have my vidio and proccessor overclocked jsut under 26% and it worked like a dream. as cooling goes this is what i would recomend. jsut make sure you run the cooling system overnight to test it for leaks. other then that :) have fun.
