Post subject:  Differences

So I tried Searching for this info, but it's not exactly easy, considering the Search phrase I'd have to enter.

So, my question is, what are the differences between this shard and the official UO shard(s)? Or better yet, which . . . ummm . . . edition of UO does Obsidian relate to?

Cause sometimes I look to the official UO site for information concerning skills/etc, and I know they're not the same or anything. But could anyone point out a few (or more) major differences between Obsidian and official UO?

Note: Besides the stuff on the Obsidian Tutorial page, like the disabled skills and etc.

Go to that site and then click on Tutorial. This will give a basic run down of how skills work here. Taming isn't accurate regarding which monsters to tame and the whole thing needs some minor updating, but on the whole it's a terrific guide.

The skills that are disabled here are as follows:
Remove Trap
Snooping
Stealing
Begging
Discordance
Peacemaking
Provocation

On the note of skills- the following are considered 'hidden' skills and you will need a Gamemaster to remove them: Provocation, remove trap and necromacy.

Basically this shard is a mixture of the pvping/pvming and crafting shards out there - all combined into one well shaped shard. T2A areas are blocked off, Cove is a newbie town/safe haven for new players to learn in without the threat of being killed and or looted and there is a custom stats/skill gain and loss system (to lose skills you need forgetful fish, to lose stats you need negative stat potions and to gain stats past 100 you need stat fish)

That's a quick run down of what's here on the shard. It's a completely custom shard that's a ton of fun and laughs, hope you enjoy it here!

P.S if I'm wrong on any of the points above - someone point out the mistake please.

Post subject:  Read the tutorial...

Yes dude... Consider reading it...I speak from personal experience... I made a couple of useless characters, which used to spend their entire day play the lute in order to get musicianship.. hehehe.. (I'm one of those lazyasses who try to learn things from experience, not by actually reading about it).. Then I learned that all barding skills were disabled (bummer).

I read about each skill and it helped me out a lot. I'm almost gm'ing mining and am on my way on smithing, so it's worked out fine.

;)

if you eat a stat fish for any stat that is still below 100, can you still gain skill?

say i eat a Dex fish when my Dex reaches 49. My Dex is now 50, but i believe someone in game told me that it would not rise any higher unless i ate another fish. In other words, i could not train my Dex up any higher, I could only eat Dex fish to raise past 50?

this sounds like a good thing, but i wanted to make sure that that was correct..

Obviously regiss knows something you don't, but seeing as how it was posted twice, I don't see how you could have missed it Boon. Learn to read!
