Yes, i actually use the mobo/proc combo, or a very similar model of mobo, and i can attest it's a nice rig. The dual core really helps in background procs, but i'd recommend more memory as your first upgrade. If you really want ti. :P

eh, people that have been benchmarking and testing out oblivion, have noted that going from 1 gig, to anything higher realy doesn't make that big of a difference at all

as in, 2 frames a second tops gain

Forget Oblivion for a minute...If you are building a modern PC, you want 2GB of RAM. Make sure it has fast timings too (e.g. OCZ Platinum DDR 400 CL2).

The 7600GT is a good card, but I would recommend investing the extra cash in a 7800gt or better a 7900gt for Oblivion and the newer games on the horizon.

The board and CPU sound a good bet. However, with the lack of applications that take advantage of the Dual-Core CPU (especially games) you would be better off getting a fast single-core Athlon, and putting the saved cash toward a better graphics card as mentioned above, or...

Also, be sure to get a Creative X-Fi soundcard as it will give better framerates than any other card on the market, compared to onboard sound in alot of games it will be like having a faster CPU because it takes alot of the burden away from your processor.

the other gig of ram i can purchase later when i'm on a better budget

the 7900gt graphics card is 600 or so (if i remember correctly)

and i already invested in a 100$ sound card

remember thass, i'm 17, just bought a car, found out how f****** EXPENSIVE car insurance is for a newbie, and only earning 8.5$ cad an hour

so yea, i'm getting like 840 ish cad for my old parts i have lying around, and some of my current, and i hope to only spend UP to 1100 cad

OK, nevermind bro.

But still, I'd recommend saving money and getting a fast single-core athlon such as my San Diego 3700+ Athlon 64... and then putting the cash saved toward a slightly better gfx card.

I think he's wise to get a dual core if he can afford it, it does help the 3800 isn't the fastest dual core, but it deffinately gets the job done.

You are mistaken about not many apps taking advantage of the dual-core, it's more that most apps don't take advantage of the 64bit proccessors. Two is better than one.
