Post subject:  spawning

Ok, now I sound like a noobie, I dont know anything about spawning. :(
So I thought that I would ask, before I wander around in the woods for another 3 hours trying to find where horses spawn. I heard that there is a horse spawn just outside Cove, but I have seen no horses, am I supposed to kill all the animals in the area to make them spawn or do I just stand around waiting?

Thanks

Yeah, just kill everything off in the area, then wait, like a half hour (maybe less), and new animals will have spawned, and sooner or later llamas and horses and maybe even stangs will show up. The way I usually clear an area is to tame bears or something and use them to kill everything else  That way I don't have to train up a melee skill

Or you could just take your fighting char there and get some training when you kill them. You do have about 30 mins to log on your tamer after you kill them all.

Another good method is to just go through the countryside, taming everything you see, then pitting it in combat against the next animal you come across. This kills them, and it raises your taming.

If you tame them, you don't really have to kill them. But if you're taming is lower than 60 you should be taming everything you see to get it up to there. 60 is like the magic number for taming, once you hit 60, gming is a breeze.

just a small request:

IF you are going to tame everything you see, then please DO use those animals to attack and fight against other animals!

Once you tame something it is counted as 'dead' in terms of the spawn of an area, and so something else will spawn in its place.

I hope you can start to appreciate the problems we might have if there were 100 tamed animals from a certain spawn spot and the strain that might start to cause on the server!

---------------

Back to the original question about horses!

They don't actually spawn anywhere consistently, but they will spawn anywhere that the existing spawn is removed!

So kill everything in an area, then come back and check in half an hour to see if a horse has appeared. Rinse and repeat.

Thx Raine for not bringing the stang to your house and holding up the spawn. I appreciate it.

Also, if you do tame a bunch of animals, please don't name them all "tamed" or something... someone was doing that for a while and it gets really old, really quick >< I felt like liberally applying my fist to their face at times  Anywho, good luck with the taming, I'm sure I'll see you out there sometime :D

I wouldnt do that, if I cant tame the stang right there then someone who can is more deserving of it :)

Tee Hee, it is better than seeing pigs renamed "BlackMagicsMom" and Cow named "BlackMagicsWife" seen quite a few like that, I thought that it was rude so I killed them :) I usually name my pets things like "prettyhind" and "misterwolf" stuff like that :)

In a somewhat unrelated topic- is it strange that I got my mustang about a week ago and today is the first time I got him to eat? I heard that stangs are big eaters, but mine doesnt seem to get hungry. Hmmmm, it bothers me that my horses eat more than the stang.

Well, I guess it depends on whether or not you leave the stang ingame (log off after getting off) or you stay on it when you log... for animals, "hungry time" only tallies when it's actually ingame, so you may have not had it ingame for long enough for it to get hungry... if that's not the case, then idk :?
