why not... if 2 ppl interact ingame, why wouldnt it be a chance of romance at some point? dont rly see a different with this then meeting ppl in any other way.
personally i prefer meeting new ppl irl that could mean a chance for ongoing relationship (closer friend or romance) as ingame i aim to "play the game". but faith can plays many tricks on you i guess

And yeah sure I believe in it, just because you met on the internet doesnt mean that you cant get to know someone, meet irl and hope they arent some creepy rapist- who knows it happens lol.

Agreed, I've met a few people recently that met in games and are currently working on getting visas and such to move and be closer(some are getting married). It makes sense really, you already know you have something in common with them plus to get to know them as a person before anything else and if you want a long term relationship that's a good way to start. I can understand why some people would knock how they met but really it's no different than meeting a stranger in a coffee shop or club or anywhere else the individual might frequent. Some people just prefer to spend their free time in a game and to meet someone and fall in love is no more insane than meeting that person in a club or whatever. It's all up to what the individual is prepared to do to make the relationship work.
When we're all grown and have children(or the children some of us have) and they are grown, I wonder what the new way of meeting people will be like. Maybe they'll meet in space in some magical dome thing and talk thru tubes that come out of their belly buttons.

I don't know, how does one nerd call another nerd a nerd? Is it nerdier to meet someone while being a nerd? Also, is it only nerdy to meet someone in a game or is it also nerdy to meet someone on a dating site or forum or pron site or Irc/chatroom, etc? To each their own, if it works out for them yay. At least it gives people options and they aren't stuck with the same ol hicks in the same ol town. lol
Hold on tho, meeting a significant other online...is that any different from meeting new friends online? I've heard many people here talk about how they would like to meet their friends in game in RL and hang out. How is that any different, besides the lack of sex(altho I doubt in some situations here, you guys like to talk about yr willies a lot lol).

To be honest, I've never heard of anyone in these situations that's looking for it lol, but yes, that would be nerdy.
No I wasn't calling anyone a nerd, I was only throwing the scenario out there of meeting up with friends and asking if it was on the same lvl of nerdiness.
However, if you've been playing obs this long, you probably are a nerd, but you're not alone, I think there is a support group somewhere.

I think that people can become friends over the net but anything more than that i don't believe in. I mean sure, if you've met them/talked to them in rl and keep in contact via msn or skype then that's totally understandable.
But to say you're involved with someone when you've never met them is taking it too far. They could be totally different to the persona they're presenting to people on the net. To romance over the internt, Echo says no! lol
