Sorry but I'm on dialup and have not tried to log on in ages due to this. So is it possible to run obsidian on a dial-up connection?

heck, yeah! my dsl is currently down but obs is still more than playable via dialup! heck, the game was created during the golden age of telephone modems!
however, having said that, i'm sure if you ever got into the thick of it that your lag might very well be your doom. i can't speak from experience but i do notice quite a bit of delay. i primarily craft but i would never go toe-to-toe with any big monsters or especially powerful vile players over dial up.
then again, i'm sure that there are more than a few players out there will say differently. i guess as long as you are experienced enough and well prepared, you could probably anticipate your apponent's moves and emerge the victor. but like i say...

Like I said, I...
OMFG, it's BB...
Mark that 1.5 times I've cleaned my shorts now.
And yeah, Xkill, I think a good, how shall we say, "Swave and De-boner" player should be able to stand their own against anyone. I guess, regardless of speed, it's all in the rhythm, baby.
Again, I am a simple crafter. Your PvP world frightens me...
(but I still play here...and LOVE it!)

I've played a year or so over Dial-Up. I had good friends to help me out with PK and that's it.
