i recently tried to eat some cooked forgetful fish.
and it said "failed to id"
is that because it needs to be re-ided using the skill gem?

Ooo, ouch.

As a fisher, I'm hoping that all previously IDed+cooked fff are not bugged. However, if that's just another result of the patch like the mounts issue, then I'm cool with it.

I will be doing some fishing tonight and I will post back later if there are any issues with fff. I might be in a unique testing position as well since before the patch I was saving a bunch of raw fish of various types back at our house so that I could work on finally GMing Cooking.

Maybe it would be good to know where the fff you ate came from? Have you had them for a while, just purchased them, caught them yourself with your fisher, etc. ? Maybe try throwing them on the ground and walking over them will "reset" them sort of like the "odd unstackable fish" bug workaround?

Anyhoo, keep the faith! :D

Soooo...heh... You can't give any more information about the fff in question since it just might incriminate you?

Anyhoo, I wasn't able to try any fff last night. Intead I tried to do my first real post-patch fishing run and...well...this just might be a topic(s) for another thread...

The "rhythm" was all off. It's hard to describe. That plus the multiple fish being caught at one time, oh, and the range of my rod didn't seem quite right. (heh, that's what she said! :P )

At any rate, PM me with that info about your fff, ScArY. Don't worry. I am a well of secrets. 8) That and I'm an OBSessive (heh, "obs". get it?) compulsive GM fisher. :)

the fish come many at a time as a default, just need to change the resources thingy. As for the fff, chances are they are having some migration sickness....upstream battle for them lol. They are a custom fish and would need tweaking for the new code.....give it some time and don't eat any until then is my suggestion.

As for the fishing tempo, that is default as well....casts 2 or 3 times and pulls a fish in....only one cast per square...no fish or a stack are the options lol. A new fishing script down the line I bet....but probably just a fix on fff in the short term is my guess.
:?

Interesting, Al... I loved the "upstream battles" ref as well...

Leave it to me, though, to eat untested fish. I am a glutton for punishment. :P

Did you do Taste or Item ID on them?

Taste ID...

Now that's funny!

Prepatch you would Taste ID just like Item ID, by double clicking the fish/item until you ID it. But you didn't have to cook it first. I never tried to cook one that was not IDed, so I don't even know if you could cook it without IDing before the patch.

I believe before the patch you couod use Taste or Item to id them.
(not 100% sure about that)

But it did tell you it need ided before you could cook it.

Yep. TastID and then Cook. Now I'm scare to ID them. Has anyone tried to eat one "accidently on purpose" before IDing it?

Looks like it's time for me to get in and cook that good sized stash of various raw fish tonight. However, everytime I login, I get distracted by something. Damn mis-diagnosed A.D.D.... ;)

So, to recap the issues we have:

1) TasteID problem both in proceedure and if it even works.
2) Question on if eating even cooked IDed fish actually takes away skills.

Tonight, I will examine this as if I were trying to defuse a damn bomb. Which really isn't too far from the truth, now is it, eh? Heh, heh... :P

Today's earlier patch should have taken care of all these issues.

You now ID then cook, and the eating should be handled correctly.

This should apply to all pre-patch fff that were identified, and all fff caught after this post.

those in between are kinda up to your own risk. If they're not identified you still might eat them.

I am just waiting to put up the changelog from today until the server gets rebooted, as some changes won't take affect until then.

Thanks for the update, Bob!

I will commence to ID/Cook my pre-patch fff at my own risk.

Can't wait for the other fishing stuff to come into play! :)

Edit: Ouch. Heh, heh. Ok... After losing some cooking and fishing skill I would NOT recommend that cavalier approach to testing pre-patch fish! Also, it looks like I was able to eat stat, feast, and other colored fish (again, pre-patch) even though they were raw. Also, raw pre-patch fish steaks produced 1 No Draw tile even when I was trying to cook a stack. Word to the wise, folks: Don't mess with those pre-patch fish! I'm going to try and eat the Stat fish I want and then attempt to sell the rest to a NPC somewhere. Heh, I lost 10 Fishing and 20 Cooking on that little dumb experiment. You have been warned! 8)

(please let me know if this should be in a new thread, gods o' obs...)

I love the new graphics for fish that are picked up and then dropped (much like using the [is it now "old"?] .flip command). However...

1) It sometimes appears that one can not pick up a changed small special fish (colored or fff) or shell without moving first.

2) I'm still trying to zero this next one in but it appears that fishing range has changed somehow. It might not really be that it has been altered from the standard 6 tiles but could it have something to do with how sometimes your character "shifts" or "sinks" into the ground?

I will keep testing.

(again, should we change this thread to "fish" or should I post these issues in different threads?) :?
