Harvesting bones from a skeleton shade appears buggy. Instead of the stack of bones like from most skellies, you get an image of a single bone that is tagged "8 bone" (singular, not a type-o). They will not stack and vendors don't buy them.
This is in addition to the dark bone they drop.

Side question - what are dark bones good for?
