I'll put out another reminder to people that while house rent costs no money it does cost a little time. You have to double click the sign to refresh it. I've been seeing a few houses that have decayed lately and frankly there's been TONS of warning about it.

So I'll just put this reminder out there and leave it to you all to pass on the message by word of mouth. :)

Hint to all: There's a box somewhere in the town buildings with a bag in it with about 50k worth of stuff in it somewhere out there. Until I use it or sell it all..

Umm, if a house decays, it takes all it's stuff with it it. or at least it should.
I'll check it at some point.

They don't. When houses decay, they act like the old OSI houses and spill the contents of the house on the ground. The problem is that things like looms, forges, and anvils don't decay with the houses. The result is a lot of stuff in the world that can't be moved, and only a GM can delete.

I also noticed that there is no way of telling how long a house has until it decays. I would think this would be on the house sign, but when I double click a house sign (that is not my own) all I get is...well...the sign with the house name. No ownership information, no decay information. Can this be changed? It's hard to keep an eye on a friends house if you don't know how long before it's going to fall.

Until this is fixed, if you do find any static objects randomly left in the world, let us know the coordinates and we will delete them. Or alternatively page ingame from that location.

thats a good point. I can see yards being a problem. What happens if someone places a house overlapping someone else yard, then the house that the yard belongs to falls down? Is someone going to be left with half a house? Or worse yet...someone could place a house intentionally where it would cause problems with someone else's house or yard boundaries if it was left to decay. This could be a bad greifing technique at best, and a pretty nasty loot bug at worse.

Many people don't even know how big their own yards are, much less how to place houses so they can avoid someone else's. Accidental issues would probably be the biggest problem.

This is all just speculation at the moment..I have not actually seen anything happen...but if it could happen, bob would be the one to know how to fix it before it became a problem.

IT shoudl be impossible to place houses with overlapping yards.

If someone finds otherwise, let me know

 Just a note...This has now happened btw. The big house has gone & so has a very big section of the log wall of Frost Fell.
