well my monitor is ultra shaky its been like that for a while so um if you guys were wondering whiere i was in game and why u didnt see me in game thats why.......
that and finding girls to do.....
but ya
does anyone know how to fix a monitor (tell me how to fix a monitor) with the whole display moving up and down,,, and it gets kinda lower and lower lol so i cant see the task bar... but the shaking is really whats annoying me, i can just heighten the display on the monitor

i have a CRT plug in play monitor its hella old, i kinda guess its dieing lol but who knows um
i tried chaning the refresh rate, removing all electronics from near the area
the only new electronic in the area near it is an ipod clasic lol which i got like last week,
but i smacked the monitor a few times just in case the lil light thinger mighta been off set or something,,

so ya idk
if anyone can help me b4 i go out and buy a new monitor it would be nice, because i get paid in a month, so ya i gotta go a month without gaming or even using ghe comp that heavily cuz my head hurts reading and stuff wit this lol

Your monitor is toast man.....

I used to fix CRT displays on oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers back in the day....older computer monitors are just fancy versions of the same thing.

There's a feedback loop that maintains horizontal and vertical alignment. The signal for that loop is generated by a LO (local oscillator) there's always two LOs in a CRT, but some can have more depending on the quality of the monitor, and what's it's used for. One of your LOs could be going bad. If that's the case, it's easy to fix....IF you can get the parts...and thats a HUGE "IF". It's physically easy to fix, but it's almost always cheaper to buy a new monitor.

More then likely the electromagnets that control your vertical guns inside the glass itself are going bad. No cheep or easy fix.

If I were you, I'd start looking through the Sunday paper for rummage sales. It's that time of year. CRTs are yesterdays tech, LCDs are in...so....all those people with old CRTs are selling them cheep to free up space. Almost every rummage I have been at in the last few weeks has an old monitor for 10 or 20 bucks. I wouldn't suggest this as a final solution, but something to tide you over until you can get an LCD.

edit:
I just remembered that I have 2 old CRTs in the garage...I can't send you one because the shipping would cost more then the monitors worth, but it just goes to show that everyone has them laying around....ask your friends, your parents friends, cousins, whatever.....I'm sure you can find one fast.

ill just drop a buck 50 on a 19" lcd, but ya i liked CRTs cuz there refresh rate keeps my eyes feeling good after playing games for a length
+ no ghosting and stuff in games + blacks show better so ya lol

it might implode. I heard stories of a guy working an old CRT and it imploded on him the moment he unscrewed the housing. The force of the implosion tore most of the skin from his face, he was partially blinded, and it took almost a year of surgery to remove all the tiny bits of glass that were embedded in his head down to the bones.

But I'm sure you'll be fine......

Your "friday night" will end up much more expensive than a new monitor.

Anyway, Dell recently had a 20" on sale for 109. Then it went to 119 + free shipping. I think it is 129 now. I almost bought one... (kinda wish I did)
Waiting on the next sale now.

old monitors can also carry a strong residual charge capable of killing you even once disconnected from the mains

don't bother -- get a new LCD. I have the Benq G2400W, it's not as pretty a picture as my Viewsonic VP930B but I love the size of it for the price I paid. Great for games, HD movies etc.
