Ah it'll be because when you fail to cast most spells it doesn't gain. If you succeed like you did with the recall spell there, that's obviously hard enough to give you a gain.

still I belive skilltest shouls tell me if I am able to gain from it, rather if I fail or not..it dosnt matter. I remember while training magery I used to gain even when fizzled at occasions...

bob said you were supposed to be able to gain no matter if you fail or not.

but before that he said you had a lesser chance of gain if you fail
this might make it so the lesser chance= no chance at all in some cases.

i guess?

What it is is that if you fail, you show that you didn't use the skill properly up to the requirement.
I.e. if recall is a 30% skill, you fail it might be counted as a 20% or 15% success.
So if succeeding wlil gain you, failing might be too far below your threshhold.

Hope that clears it up, and yes those numbers are made up, i'd have to lookup the real numbers since i don't know them off the top of my head.

So yes, you do still gain from failures, but some failures are so easy that you will not be able to gain from them if they're too near your threshold for gains.
