Heard at vesper bank after a bunch of people were calling a certain players name.

As long as he wasn't macroing i guess, I still remember going to vepser bank when everyone hung out in brit and seeing echo trying to talk to a certain player who had a macro that made him run around and say stupid shit while he spammed spells on himself and wondered how the hell he ever got caught.

those types of smart macros are actually some of the easiest to catch because they're relatively dumb.

Basically, how easy it is to spot a macro is on a bell curve of how intelligent(or dumb) it is.

At the very bottom you have the dumbest type of macro, i.e. uoloop or basic button spamming.
Those are decently hard to determine whether for sure it's a macro or a player, hence the macro stone.

Now, as we get smarter and people add running, talking, etc to their macros, it actually becomes easier to spot them, because things like timing between movements, the literal reaction time of a human vs computer, and my favorite, the horrid logic the macro uses, actually give them away as being a macro relatively fast.

In fact i find it rather amusing when people try to make stupid smart macros to try to outsmart staff. It's actually rather enjoy messing with those macros and making them break before i jail/whatever the person, much to the chagrin of the player who was running them. It's a nice game of cat and mouse to break from my normal activities.

Now at the other end we have the smartest macros, which for example can spot macro stones, can respond to staff questions and can even do basic defense if attacked or monsters appear naer them.
To me, those are about as hard to spot as the uoloop. There is some question of whether it's a player who's just bored and doing repetetive stuff so they're tuning out everything else with tunnel vision, but it's not hard to verify and it's very unusual that i can't know for 99% sure whether it's a macro or player after around a minute or two of watching/messing with them.
