Post subject:  Meditation Timer

Can you please explain why the higher my meditation is, the longer the timer becomes? Currecntly I am at 57.0 meditation and my timer has reached 15 seconds. By the time I GM the skill my timer will be at what, 30 seconds before I can successfully med once again.

This brings up another issue. Shouldnt the timer on successfully and unsuccessfully meding be changed. So if you fail to med it is longer and if you successfully med it will be shorter.

Honestly, you spoke something about magery having to do with the meditation timer, but my magery is around 60 and I do not see how that is effecting my timer so much with med.

I forgot to ask this at the meeting tonight, but I would appreciate it if you took the time to explain this skill to me a little more. If it continues like this then med will be useless to me. I rather not wait x amount of seconds in-between successful meditations.

Also, I will be opening this up more and more as I see problems with the med timer on my part.

Thank you and have a nice day!

ya i think its bugged somehow becuase
i have a lowertimer on ryoko and im gm magery and 60-70 med
but still have a low timer... which it should be at

i think the higgher ur magery / med / eval int the shorter ur timer should be ,
not the opposite way around,

Well here is what I have currectly:

GM Eval Int
Roughly 61 Magery
Roughly 57.5 Med

Well when I successully meditate I have a timer that begins at 15, which means that I need to wait 15 seconds in order to med again. However, when I fail my med timer restarts at around 7.

Honestly if someone has GM eval int, GM magery, and GM med it shouldnt raise continuously. If anything it should stay rather low to give mages a chance to med more successfully and stand a chance in battle. I know that I wouldnt want to go into battle with a 30+ med timer and only relying on my G Mana Pots - which also have a timer around 15 seconds.

Seriously guys?
Code:
If ( magery > necromancy ) delay = 2 + magery/100 ELSE delay = 2 + necromancy/100 ENDIF
At GM magery you're at 12 second timer. If you fail to med the delay is cut in half.
Everyone getting 15+ need to READ YOUR MESSAGES when you meditate. You're missing something obvious, and i don't spend all that time writing messages for you to ignore them and then ask questions

So all I need to do is get a new hat and this should stop. If that the only thing that I needed to do then I shall do that.

Not trying to be rude, but I honestly dont go through your posts understand all the math and equations you do. The reason you are the coder is because you understand it and I do not. Just like I give you respect you should give us some too. Instead of calling us morons and what not because some of us cant understand all the equation crap you throw at us to tell us what is what.

Sorry to say that, but calling us morons isnt going to help you cause when you try to 'assist' us. If you keep calling players names like that you will be lose the little respect you still have Bob.

yeah i edited it after i posted, just didn't get to it fast enoguh to get your post.
It's been a long day, dealing with bug abusers and other stupid crap, and people trying to lie to my face about stupid stuff like viruses they don't have.

It just ticks me off when i spend so much time writing stuff out for you guys to be able to help yourselves then no one reads them.
If it says your head is cold in-game, then maybe you should cover it.
It's like hungry and healing.

doing the equation 2+ (100 [gm magery]/100)
you get 3 delay ... not 12 delay

and changing the skill to lets say 50
**
2+ (50/100)
would just change the delay to 2.5

interchange magery to necro if your a necro

or am i just a math retard? (pliable answer)

you have 1000 magery at gm magery. Sphere doesn't know what a decimal point is, so it ignores them

i dont understand why the timer is going up the better you get at it. shouldn't it go down. the first time a made a pie it took me hours to make the pie crust right, but now i can make one in about 10 minutes. the first time a tried to rewrite some code it took me hours, now that same code i can fix in about 10 minutes. the first time i ran a mile it took me about 10 minutes, now i run them well under 6. The first time i changed the starter in my car it took about 3 hours, now i can do it in about 30 minutes. Yes i have done it 4 times but come on now...

my point is, the more you do something, the better you get, taking less time and not more.

agreed 100 % beisdes it not making any real life sense

it makes no balance since (from what i see)

it offers a reason NOT to train med and potentially receive LESS mana than someone with lower med.. which makes no balance sense

the equation should be reversed. to lower timers as you get higher.
just as dex always heightens your swing speed//

but u forgot one thing.. the high meditation, the less fail.

Post subject:  Re: Meditation Timer

If we chance the timer, it's going to a flat timer for everyone.

The reason the timer starts low and goes high, is you fail a lot at the low end, so rather than completely screw low end mages, we give them a short timer with less mana to get from it. So even if they faila bunch they still get a trickle of mana. Where as high end mages need that big burst of mana and low fail rates.

You will always make more mana per second at higher meditation than at lower meditation. Even though the timer goes up, the amount goes up more.
Makes sense?

I know reality wise it doesnt' make sense, but this was the med system from the hats, all i did was moved it to the button, so i'm not the one who wrote it or balanced it originally. I just checked the numbers to make sure they still balance and switched med/eval int around a bit.
