Alright, so a new alternative to the current control system popped into my head.
Wanted to hear what you all think of it.
Current system: Slots of animals, you can control up to your slot maximum.
New System: Each animal has a control rating(equal to taming, except for certain animals such as mounts (llamas/horses/mustangs) or extremely powerful animals).
You can control up to your control rating in total animals.
So like 50 bunnies or 5 pigs or etc (fake numbers).
Your maximum control rating is 20 + taming + 1.5x animal lore.
all mountable animals will be 20 control rating.
Also each animal will require a minimum taming to control, (mounts=0), equal to half it's control level. EG gm taming for a 200 control monster, 50 taming for a 100 control.
This will allow us to make more powerful monsters for battle tamers, while restricting both spamming and their use by non-tamers.

Yes, the more powerful animals will need a higher taming skill to control.
Sounds interesting...

Im up for it as long as it doesnt affect the summon spell, which i would find lame. Ive never ahd a probelm with people summoning bears its part of the game.

Yep, I came back to post a follow up regarding the summon spell...
The formula should also consider magery. As a mages skill increases he can summon stronger creatures. Under the formula described above he would not be able to control them. The formula should be ammended to account for magery so that a mage can control the creatures he can summon at his skill level.
If a tamer can control 1 of the strongest creatures at his taming level and 2 creatures from 50% skill level, then the mage should be able to control 1 of the strongest he can summon and 2 from 50% skill level. A summoned horse should have the same vallue as a regular horse.
This would be fair.
Of course the tamer/mage would see a benefit from the inclusion of magery into this formula, but that would be balanced by the fact that the skill cap would limit the level of fighting skills he could posess.

Actually i was just more thinking that any "summoned" creature would have a really small control value. Would fix the problem without giving mages control over actual animals.

That would work too.
Actually, I think it would be a better solution than adding magery to the formula.
How would a summon that can not be controlled, like blade spirits, fit into the equation?

well, if you give mages the ability to summon whatever with small values, would tt allow them to cast as many summons as they wanted? so if yu had gm magery and magery summons were of small value, ty really wouldnt need tamin..unless they wanted real ones.

Ya i like the system the way it is... This is garbage always trying to make warriors worse and worse. If the animal value system is lowered. It should be lowered for summons to..
