My son is training cartography and i thought maybe that would speed it up if they were easy to find but if it is too much trouble then im not going to bother.

pretty sure it doesn't do anything for cartography.

It does it allows u to make pvp maps at 90+ carto. i made a few

Ya pretty much. There are different types depending on different skill levels that give you more range aka wider map, I think you need like 110.0 cartography for the world pvp map. But pretty much its like this in picture one i open the map and it shows me where players are, in picture 2 i run to there to make sure it works.

I understand cartography needs a use but I'm still not sure I like these being in the game to be honest...

I don't too much like it either, i think a pk should earn his kill the old fashioned way by searching the map.

to be honest the pvp map is kinda a waste of a compass tho the compasses are hard as shit to get and the map has like 3 charges.
