I live in a rowhouse that's a co-operative in ?rebro (almost 19 miles from our capital) it's 104 square metre, 2 floors with 4 rooms, a kitchen and 2 bathrooms. Since it's a co-operative meant my wife bought it for roughly 72,376 USD (currency converter:) ). And the monthly rent is around 828 USD excluding phonebill, electricity bill and some other stuff

Don't know if that's expensive living but we can manage it. But I think I've discussed it with an american and a australian and Iif I don't remember wrong they said it was expensive compared to how much they pay

Yes Millencolin is good.

I'll try to explain why we pay rent on a place we have bought :)
I'll use my situation as an example. But with fictional costs :)

A building company builds 9 row houses at a cost of 9000K USD. Then they sell it to 9 families but they don't pay 1000K USD each instead they invest 500K USD that means that the company has only got payed for half the house value. Then the 9 houseowners create a co-operative that "loans" the other half. Hence paying rent every month. But the rent goes to the co-operative (ourself) we do the repayment including some interest to the building company. what's left is co-operative money and can be used for service on our common grounds if that's necessary and other stuff, like for instants our city is puting down Fiber optic cables for broadband a so called "city net". I'm trying to get our co-operative to invest in a part of that net, so we can get anything between 10Mbit-100Mbit.

So in a sence we pay rent to overself since we own the house and part of the rent goes to the co-op and are reinvested to increase teh hosue values for all of us

Hope that makes sence it's hard to explain a thing that ur use to and never actually think about

And finally here is ?rebro's little castle :)

Sweden is a kewl place for fishing, hiking and skeeing, but I'd never move there...5? a pint is if you're buying from a store...Their 'strong' beer is the same as our regular beer...And they have prohibitions on just about everything...

Oh...And whenever they visit my place, they always end up puking in the harbour... :P
