I've taken this from a previous post about this subject, hope this helps u out

Out of 3K ingots i made daggers, which were resmelted and turned into daggers, and resmelted and turned into daggers, and so on, until i had no ingots left. This gave me a skillraise of approx 0.1% per 100 ingots.
Making maces out of 3K ingots and following the same procedure with making and resmelting, i got a skillraise of 0.13% per 100 ingots.
Furthermore the amount of ingots "lost" when making maces and daggers are the same: 6 to make, 3 back for maces (-3) and 4 to make, 1 back for daggers (-3).
Only thing is - you shouldn't make maces until your BS is up to 75-80%. Before this you will fail too often.

However the maces will of course be heavier so u can only make a few at a time then resmelt, instead of having like 300 daggers in ur pack like before :/
Nice find sir.
