 Post subject: Legal strength limit
PostPosted: Sun Jun 26, 2005 7:59 pm
It was brought to my attention that the legal str limit is 173 and if you get more than that you might get a nice -100 to str. So, can any GM shed light into this matter for me? I'm aiming for a nice 180 str 100 dex 0-10 int, i would like to know if it is legal. Thank you.

I know you can get to 176 with stat fish. Not sure if you're allowed to go higher though, just wanted to tell ya it's 176 not 173

let's say you have 180str and someone casts bless on you and youur str goes over 200. If by some chance there is a world save while your strength is above 200 then you'll be hit with a nice -100 to your str.

if the stat pots where still enabled, we would be in big trouble. IMO, spells should be re-disabled and pots re-enabled, so warriors and mages a like can have extra boosts. ATM a mage can bless themselves and curse a warrior, often making a -30 str in comparrison.

Im with Kinetic here, but maybe some pots can be introduced which do those same effects as the spells. Correct me if im wrong, but if you use a str potion, then you use a dex potion, your str will go back to normal and your dex will go up. So maybe theyre could be bless potions which do all of the stats, and maybe curse potions which you can throw..i dunno, just a thought.

It's very simple.
There are three statcaps on obsidian.

The total, the individual, and the hardcoded.

Hardcoded - If you go over 200 in any one stat w/o special flags like polymorph, you will lose -100 to a stat at the next check, which is usually a worldsave.

Individual - Currently there is a "soft" limit of 176 per stat individually, this is to prevent players from ever reaching the hardcoded limit

Total - You go over the total, you lose -1 to stats at every check, you know the drill.

why don't we just give every character the same exact abilities, disable reactive armor, protection, and any other spells that have an item equivalent, and then make weapons that can proc. flamestrike and other damage spells
