From what I have heard it is not illegal to have over 176str, but if you happen to be blessed and a world save takes place. You will suffer a -100 drop in str if it went over 200.

In any case - Welcome to the Shard Hotaru. Enjoy playing here on Obsidian - and if you ever do need any help there are many great players out there to help you as well as dedicated staff.

Good luck!

He got his stats that high before the new limits were enabled. He was grandfathered into the old system, as are many older players. If he was to lower his stats, I doubt he could raise them to that level again.

Oigen, you are correct. If he has over 200 in any stat during a world save, then he will loose 100 in that stat. It's a risk I guess he's willing to take, but not a smart one IMO.

I'm not the final say on in-game matters by a long shot, so if a GM or admin feels that his stats are out of line, then I'm sure they will take appropriate action in private.

well, i think it was deemed illegal by staff because of that situation described there - because people loosing those stats will harass staff to give them back lost stats - so they made it illegal to have more than 176. if someone would come and ask for stats back they would say it was illegal and that they couldn't help. and i think it's ok to be like this.

You should probably make yourself a crafter. Fisherman or blacksmith will make you the most money. Fishing will make the most money, but a smith is more interesting. I have both a BS and fisherman, and I would suggest a blacksmith. The amount of money a BS can make is substantial, and you'll only fall asleep at your computer 1/2 as much as you would if you were fishing.
I've already made a crafter. :) Last night I quickly learned the value of having one. I ran out of gold rather quickly and my Warrior is still too weak to head down into the Newibe Crypts to make some.

One thing I don't get about forging tho is repairing. Lastnight I tried to repair my Pick Axe and when I tried I got a message saying that it was in full repair, but when I went back to using it I got another message saying that it was it was badly damaged. I'm not really worried about having to replace a Pick Axe once it's broken because the cost of one is cheap. It's just I don't understand why I couldn't repair it when my Blacksmithing skill is over 40.

I alos have a few question abou the game also, but I'm going to wait until I either have more to ask or see if I can figure the game out myself.

Pickaxes aren't repairable. If you use tinkering skill you can attempt to make your own. But at low skill you will fail lots, best to but them, they are cheap as chips.

You need arms lore and blacksmithy to repair items

You can only repair the 'combat' HP of an item. You can't do anything about the 'tool' HP of an item, thus the reason why you repaired your pickaxe (which can be used as a weapon) and it was still damaged as a tool

Thanks, Excalibur, I'll keep that in mind. Right now I'm doing pretty good with my crafter...sure I'm not making 11k an hour, but I'm getting by.

I have a couple questions about this game. Instead of starting a new thread I'll just ask them here. I hope no one minds.

1. I'm a bit embarrassed to ask this one...I'm not 100% sure about how to do melee combat. I know that you need to double left-click on something to preform an attack. In actual combat tho I'm finding it to be cumbersome to have to double left-click to keep attacking and it's very slow. Is there a way throufh macros to make it so my character constantly swings?

2. I've made a four Exceptional Bow just to see how much an NPC vendor would buy them for. Turns out the one in Cove won't buy them at all. Is there any NPC vendors out there that will buy them? I doubt they are of any good quality because my Fletching skill at the time was only like 50% otherwise I would just try to sell them to a player.

3. Outside of finding someone to hold onto your gear; is there another way I can swap equips/gold between characters? I have a feeling that I'll have to wait until I can afford a house, but I thought I'd ask anyways. :)

4. The in-game midis. Combat1.mid is driving me crazy. I know I've heard this track before but I just can't place it. I wanna say Ogre Battle from the SNES? I also noticed that there's midis for different amounts of on-board RAM that your card has (or is that based off of your systems RAM?). Is there a way I can make is so the midis that play while I'm playing are the higher quality ones? Or does the client auto-detect that? I'm positive that system can handle the high quality ones. I have 2 Gigs of system RAM and 12 Mb on my SPU.

5. Is it possible/legal to setup a marco so you can train two skills at once? I had this bright idea to set Anatomy targetted at myself while I was using LastObject to train my Archery skill on the same marco.

6. What triggers that unattended marco stone? I've had it pop up twice now while I was training my Swordmenship skill. I figured it happened from me using the marco then switching to MSN to reply to a message.

7. This might be a bug. I've had a weapon disapper from my inventory. I got this message that since I wasn't in combat mode that my equips were unequiped. At that time I was at my weight limit when this happened and instead of my Axe going into my inventory it just up and vanished.

8. I just discovered this site here; http://admin.nemnoch.com/index.htm and I really wish I would have known about it yesterday...I ended up making a Human crafter. Is being in the craftsman guild worth the remake of my crafter?

Wow...that's not a couple questions...that's a whole lot actually. Thanks in advanced to anyone that answers them all. :)

Wow...long list, but I'll do my best.

1) You attack someone or something by double clicking them when you’re in war mode. You can toggle war mode using the tab key. You’ll know when you’re in war mode because A) your mouse curser will be red rather then silver and B) when you’re not on a horse or mount your character will be in a crouched posture rather then standing straight up. The speed of your attack will increase as your dexterity increases. Once you start attacking, you will only stop once in a while and you'll have to double click your target to start the attack again.

2) I don’t know if NPCs buy bows at all. I never really tried to sell them. As for selling them to players, I don’t think anyone will buy them if they are not GM marked. There’s too many GM ones around for someone to settle for anything less.

3) Houses, players, a quiet spot in the woods, or a corner of a deserted NPC building in town are probably the best way to transfer items between characters. Be careful about any NPCs around though, they have sticky fingers and like to take shit they see sitting on the ground.

4) No idea. I play with no music or with winamp on.

5) The only way to gain anatomy is to macro it. I did it at the bank for a while during nights before I logged off.

6) The stones are not triggered automatically. Our invisible staff drops them on us if they think we are unattended macroing. If you don’t click the stone, you’ll go to jail for an hour as a first warning. The penalty can get worse if you are caught multiple times.

7) Its a bug. I have never had it happen to me, but I have read about it on the forums. From what I understand, the item drops down a level when you drop it. Staff can get it back for you if you page them.

8 ) Craftsman guild? I didn’t even know we had those....well, there cove trades, but they don’t care what race you are. I think if you’re the right race you can enter special areas, like the house in the cove mines. Not really worth it, IMO.

You can use the attacklast macro for that, however, for it to work, you have select them with a target icon. A few examples would be using anatomy or some such skill, double clicking a weapon/other item and then attempting to use it on them, or casting a spell. Personally I use a bandage, which works since then I'll have that saved for my lastobject macro. You can't heal mobs anyways so there's no drawback. If you're in pvp, just use a bandage on them out of range.

Attacking the same monster/player is simple, if you drag your mouse on them thier HP bar will pop up, and instead of now trying to dbl click the monster which may have gotten hidden behind another monster/player, simpley dbl click its hp bar.

The crafter buiness is really only useful to the ice elfs as they get access to little places around britania which provide almost private crafting as there's not many of them around. You do however get 100 extra skill points which is very useful if you stick around for a while and pile on the skills. You can also pick woodelf, but I dont believe they have access to the ice elf places though.

If bowcrafting is the profession of your first crafter I'd make another, say fisher or blacksmith, as they make more money, which should set you up for a house. Tailor's are not bad too, but you need to reach 90 skill and that takes a lot of cloth, to be able to make the fancy dyes.

Prob best to turn music off, as will allow PK'ers more chance of sneaking up on you as you wont hear their footsteps, and you may not hear certain spell sounds given you slower reaction times. I only listen to some music whilst crafting in safe location.
