OK here's how it is.

This is not a thread for debating whether or not items/characters should be replaced. It is a thread created by our shard admin to advise greater care in protecting your password.

All should be vigilant in both protecting your password by not revealing it to anyone, and also making sure that it is not easily guessable. As has already been stated, it is not physically possible for anyone other than Broadband to directly obtain password information from the shard.

We can therefore deduce that, if the affected parties are adamant that their passwords have not been given out willingly, that the passwords were guessed by someone that knows them or has somehow obtained this information. For instance, if ANY of you used your ingame password to register an account for one of those damned 'unofficial' Obsidian forums, then I suggest you change it right now! For those of you who are familiar, this is a variant of the practise commonly known as 'phishing'.

In terms of whether or not items/characters lost through 'account-jacking' should be replaced, this is not a player or even collective staff decision. It is solely an admin one.

The shard administrator and owner has taken the stance that the affected posessions and/or characters should be replaced. He has instructed that we as staff should facilitate this as best we can.

Thus, this is what will happen. If you have a problem with this decision then I suggest you PM Broadband with your reasons as to why. The public forums is not the place for disagreement with an admin decision.
