Just wanted to let everyone know that Obsidian is once again online and operational.

I got of the phone with Blinkers and he's game to help work on the upcoming patch! What this means is get your friends and family online and in-game as soon as you can so we can watch our ranks grow once again and help light a fire under us staff's arse to get these updates out sooner then later.

I had a lengthy discussion with GM Bob and he has informed me that quite a bunch of you have been having problems with the patcher as of late. I would love if you would sound off because I already have a much simpler patcher developed that we might need to use.

The upside is it's so simple it should run flawlessly on any computer. The bad news is we'd lose some of the cool functionality such as viewing the news and seeing server status ingame.

Click on the comments link below and vote on what you'd like to see!

only prob ive had with current patcher is it no longer displays a ping, but thats more than likely somethin i did on my machine because i mess with things i knows nuthin about lol :P but i'll sort that eventually :D

Well tax it could be me. Because im not verry good with comps. But i havent been able to ping since i installed obsi on my new comp which is runing vista. But im like you server stat is nice. But not a have to thing. Anything to make it easyer for people like me who cant get obsi to run with vista or what ever. I gave up for like a month and know a few people who just gave up cause they cant get it to run on their new comp.

Lay off the crackpipe man. No one said anything about poison heh-heh.

I'm all for the new and simpler patcher... I've never liked the old one, it's just too glitchy.

I like server status its good with it and like someone already said I aint to bothered about the news...

I think poison should be tweaked, make it use more ns for a mage to cast... also less fails on pots... and either remove deathly for mages or add deathly back in for warriors... definatly lower the fails on mixing the pots tho.

I'd vote for the simple patcher... like everyone else, I do find the Server Status handy, but the news goes by the wayside IMHO. I just know that the current patcher has issues with systems that had the .NET framework past 1.1 installed on it before the patcher is installed... leaves you with Null pointer exceptions ><

Yes, I'm a coder  :P

The only thing I would like to see is a shard free of bugs, or at least major bugs. I personally think and most of you would agree, we DO NOT NEED new features or spending the time to collect ideas for new events until we have a shard running smoothly, as mentioned 1000 times before: free of bugs and mostly balanced.

It's not that hard having a browser window with status open. What it'll
hurt more is when there won't be vote page as a reminder to vote.

Percentage of ppl having problems with patcher is quite low and only few
of them seem unable to fix it manually. The bigger problem is it's random
loading lags. Must really annoy ppl when they crash in the middle of a
fight/hunt.

If CV can't work out the problems some ppl are having and make it
faster, I'd be all for reverting to simpler patcher.
