Ok i'm severely lagging but heres the wierd thing i can walk 3 steps, then i stop 3-4 seconds later i can walk another 3 steps.

This is on all of my chars - i have tried it on Vista, XP and on my seperate laptop.

It is not Ultima online i dont think as i can log into a temp shard i went to fine and it plays well.

Next wierd thing - Its only my char - everyone else is moving full speed on my screen (only my char lagging)

Confused the hel outta me.

I have re-installed and still the same

Any ideas?

Happens to me all the time when I crash near alot of items, just keep logging back on walking away from all the items, worked for me.

It wierd because its on all of my characters not just ones sat at the bank - like I said above everyone else on my screen is moving normally, its just my characters.

Server is in America (portland i believe) and im in the UK

Although this hasnt caused this much of a problem for the last6 years i've been here

Same thing happened to me the other day - as of yet I've no idea what's causing it. It sure is annoying though

i dont have that problem so maybe is not the client, could me some port or ISP

well i ahd the same prob but it wasnt long lasting so i didnt think anything of it really once ur chars are fixed for a bit um try it again cuz after the initial incident all was ok wit me anyway maye echo can move you?

its not that, I can move, 3 steps at a time I'm presuming its something ping / connection related as it seems to be only happening the most to the guys that are out of america - Land of Oz for Echo, loads from the UK etc etc.

CPU isnt under full steam niether is memory although the HDD seems to be going constantly (although thqat maybe just vista and the 2 gig worth of add ons it tries to apply every day heh)

Let me know if a fix comes out

are you riding old mounts? cause something similar was happening to me with old mounts

It's "rubber banding" the hell out of me even walking around on foot as a ghost. But, it sort of does it at random... not constant.

Got it working properly on the laptop now it just kinda sped up over the space of about 15 minutes constant running - main comp wont work proper yet though

sounds more like lag to me.

The "3 steps then wait" is because the client allows you a few steps without the game server telling you those steps are ok. Past that limit it has to wait for the game server to start replying.

This is to diminish the effects of lag, but it doesn't do much in really bad lag, and it becomes apparent.

Because the server sends out data on everyone else no matter whether you have done your movement checks or not.

What i would do is check to make sure you're not running torrents, limewire, etc. It sounds like your upload is being used to capacity, which causes a delay in your program upload.

If you are running one of those, set the upload cap to 30kilobytes, and see if it improves.

If you share a line with others, check to make sure htey are not doing similar things

Nope i have nothing else running and as stated above I have had 4 UO clients running simultanious on another shard to test, they were all fine - shard was in america too - everything else is fine its just obs
