I'm not sure what's going on with these lagg spikes. But I along with other players have been experiencing this since a few weeks ago. Now is worse, we are getting lagg spikes more often. Maybe this needs to be looked into when staff gets some free time

Me too!
Bob is this an issue local to the server, or do we need to start requesting traceroutes to try and pinpoint the issue?

It's probably a server issue, but i only have conjecture until i can get some time to work w/ broadband. Hence why i haven't posted anything yet.

Starting to piss me off
When I try and run away from dying (usually a gank =)) it's as if the world has to load before i can look at it, the buildings that I am running towards are grey, then it shows it.

Alright. I was able to discuss this with broadband, we changed a few things, but no guarantee it fixed it, so lets hear it from you guys.
Starting from tomorrow, keep an eye on the lag and report how it is.

what he said
I don't know if this will help but....
I spent most of the evening running around, and for most of the time the sound of a horse running was constant (so was the lag)....then I went to trins through the donators gate. The sound of my horse running picked up another underlying track (for lack of a better word). There was a deep base sound when the hoofs hit the ground that was missing before this....and the lag was virtually gone for me when this new sound came through. After a few minutes, as I ran closer to brit, I hit lag for a few seconds. When i finally unfroze, the sound was back to the way it originally was, and so was the lag.

I just tested trinsic and I get lag, the horse only gets 3 steps at a time with some skipping steps inbetween and some 3-5 second lag spikes every 20-30 secs or something..
Maybe you went to trin just as they temporarily fixed the problem somehow but by the time you got to brit from there it got messed again? Who knows..
*EDIT EDIT*
Disregard the 3 steps statement, If you can only take 3 steps at a time use full screen it completely fixed it for me.. I don't like using full screen though so if it could be fixed to run good without it that would be great..
But as for lag I get almost none when fullscreen now... It's only the occasional stutter step or freeze for 3-6 seconds..
I see what Azimuth is talking about now. But I get more lag around NPCs and less when away from them... I ran around Brit proper for 5 min looking at the lag then I ran just straight up through the woods above Brit and had like 0 lag and not even a freeze save for like 1 the whole time, until I reached a red NPC in the woods, The game then did some crazy stuttering thing like when you used to get stuck on something and it bounced you back and forth in position, except I was still slowly moving as it was doing that, then it did a big freeze too.

Ok, i'm gonna say this because i want to make sure it's not true.
A lot of what people are describing are client issues.
If you are running windows VISTA, any edition, please make sure you are running obsidin as ADMINISTRATOR.
Vista has some weird escallations for old software, so the old UO client doesn't quite run nice without it.
If you aren't, try fixing it and get back to me to see if it helps.
I'm still looking into things on this end.

I'm running the same computer with the same OS (XP Pro)that I have used for years. I've never had a lag problem because of my end, but thats not to say I don't have current connection issues.
