I am human, and what i planned to do is gm magery, healing, parry, tactics, fencing, Macing. I know the stat cap is 650 and all that should fit. But why did i satrt with like 300 something skills my first day. I don't need 10% cooking and shit like that. I have em locked but i am just about at cap and have gmed fencing and almost tactics. Do i have to save and spend millions on fff to get my skills i will never use or want gone? This sucks i think what can i do

ok first off, the human cap is supposed to be 680, but it neaver really is, i get to 674.1 b4 i lose.
u always start with carp u dont need, so yes, u will need to buy ff, (which coincidentally i sell ) Remove trap, provocationa nd ur hidden necro skill need to be removed by a GM.
If i were u i'd drop fencing and do archery which owns mages and use mace for fightin warriors. also consider having resisting spells as a skill, and a bit of anat too help deal added damage and assist in healing. I knwo ist real hard jostling skills and keeping them balanced, cos i am a human tank mage too and alsways gain wrestle skill which fucks me up bad stylee.

Dunno, it's kinda ok with how fff works right now. It was never meant to
be easy and it sorta keeps you going trying to keep your skills in balance,
like retraining or spending 20k just to lose those pesky 2% in wrestling..
OTOH, making sure the skill cap is really 680 or 780 respectively would
really be nice. As I must agree with bruiser that those additional 6% or
smth are really important on a maxed out char, especially human.
Edit: Plus, skill locks would allow some exploitation on stat gain.

yeah i suppose that exploit would be pesky with allowing ureslf to pound a dummy all day, but it could be set so u can lock ur skills at say obver 50%. i dont mind hunting fff for stupid ones like wrestling, its more my higher skills like archery and parry i wnat locked, cos i usually only need to drop 2-3% to stay in balance, but with a fff i have an additional 7% to rretrain which sucks, cos u know once u strat using the skill gaain u'll need to drop it off again fairly soon, only for the process to repeat.

There should be a total skill lock, not individual ones. You either gain anything, or nothing.

Just to make this well known.
I have not touched Skill caps or stat caps at all in 2004. They have remained unchanged.
