I admit I am new to the shard and all my UO experience comes from the pay-to-play shards, but I am still confused. Where are all the horses? Where are all the ingredients to cast spells? I would think that items as important as that would be plentiful. In my two weeks of playing the game (not much I know), I have only seen one horse that was not already being ridden by someone, and I have collected only 13 black pearls and nothing else. I realise that this shard is run differently and by different people, but I would think that certain things that people need to gain in skill (tamers need horses) would be more readily availible.

Just make yourself a tamer start with 50 taming then go exploring for a horse and ask someone to transfer it to your main charactor.
Regs can be bought from mage/alchemist shops or grow at the regs farms or alternatively hunt for them.
I wouldnt think a wizard would be a good choice for a charactor to start off with, since the cost of regs can be very expensive, maybe u should try making a warrior or crafter to begin so u can support your wizard.

life can be hard on this shard. things get easier once ur charachters become better, you meet some friends or join a guild. this is very different from the pay to play shards, in my opinion they have ruined the pay shards. full of tram pimps.

Where are these reg farms you are talking about?

Plus, as I said before I have only found 1 wild horse since I started here, and I've been searching with my tamer. I can't find any!

I'd suggest just playing with other characters, and then when you stumble upon horses, switch characters to tame them. It's too timeconsuming to be a true tamer, and not very fun unless you're weird like CyberVic is

did you just say that? honestly..tram pimps? you guys have towns guarded and unlootable. You wanted player vendors to be guarded so you can't lose your money. You have counsellors etc jailing people for killing in town. and you can't even reskill. not to mention stealing and snooping are disable...at least in OSI it's just trammel and not the rest of felucca

Lol, okay good...at least you admit that some parts of obsidian are like trammel. you guys really shouldn't have much to complain about considering how there is alot of hand holding and friendships between players and staff. some shards, the staff are nice and all but it's more of a boss type relationship then anything.
