Patience is needed. Make daggers og maces and resmelt. After 1.000.000.000 or less - you should be GM smithy.

oh well not really 1.000.000.000 but I guess it's about 36k of iron ingots :| or more..

It took me about a month to GM BS and Mining...maybe a little longer. Make and resmelt daggers with your iron, and make gorgets and sell them to NPC vendors with your low-level colored. Good gains and even better cash.

This has been a popular topic of late, and I set out to see exactly for myself.
I used 11k iron ingots to make daggers, resmelt them and repeat.
I used 1.5k Rusty and 1.2k Bronze to make gorgets and sell them (15k+ return)

After all of this ... and it took me about a day and a half of just smithing ... that sucked ... I went up from 55.6 to 77.5 ... a gain of 21.9

Obviously as the skill went up, the gains slowed down, so I anticipate another 20k minimum of Iron ingots. As previously stated, it does also seem that I will hit GM Smithy b4 I hit GM Mining....though it will be a close call i think.

I'll keep u posted,
Dee..

I found i got more gains from repairing then i did from making and resmelting daggers so if you see any old armour lying around grab it up.

Rusty gorgets cost 15 ingots, while coifs cost 10. im not sure about bronze, but perhaps you might want to make rusty coifs instead of gorgets. Thats what i did :)
