Can we get a vendor item list like we had before?

The new open-pack idea is cool as hell.

But, it leaves us open to the same issue fishermen have with a pack full of fff or an arms collector that has several pieces in one bag. They all look alike. The only way to tell what they are is to click on them, one at a time. Then you have to wait on the name to dissappear or you get 2 or 3 names together and can't read them. It will take all day to see what a vendor has in his pack, and find out that he does't have the fff you need or all of the weps are ruin or whatever.

And what if you have a carpenter and want to place items like tables, a bar, or a book case on your vendor? You end up severely limited as to how many pieces you can place without covering something up.

I don't know how the system will handle shrunk rides or stackable items like arrows, bandies, or potions, but assume they may still need to be placed in bags.

There may be other limitations that I have not mentioned or realized yet, but this is a fair representation of some of the challenges we will face with the new system.

Please consider changing it back.

I agree the list is much better, this just reminds me of back when you couldn't label bags and we used to leave books on our doorsteps so people knew what was what. Just another thing that was fine the way it was and was changed to much worse.

Broadband wanted the new vendor system in. I was skeptical about how the bags would work, and i see the merits/demerits of each.

I'll talk with him next time we get a meeting and see what compromise we can reach. There are lot of in-game reasons that the list does not work very well, but it did work well enough for most things, so i'll see what we can do.

Thanks Bob.

I did think of a couple more things...

When placing items on a vendor to sell it would be nice if it automatically asked for a price when you drop the item in the vendors pack/chest. It would eliminate the possibility of targeting and setting the price on the wrong item when restocking.
Or
If the vendors owner/boss could see a list of what is in stock, and edit pricing from the list. (might be a bit much but it was a thought)

If we do go back to a list, I would be nice if stackable items, such as stat fish, would show up like they would on NPC vendors. Then they would show up on the list 1 time and a buyer could select the quantity from what is available. Can you imagine how nice that would be if fff also stacked by type?

Just some random thoughts...
thanks again

I noticed there has been no changes yet.
Has BB weighed in on this yet?
Is it on the list to be changed?

sorry to bring back an old post but i didn't see an answer here.... is there a way to maybe keep the bag just make it bigger? cause my vendor is pretty much crowded with just 6 pieces of plate chest. i think its super cool not to have to scroll through a hole list but with the current pack view its really crowded, maybe have multiple packs on a vendor?

I'm not positive how things work here, but under systems similar to this people were able to put items on a vendor, but make them not for sale. This allowed players to use chests and bags to clean things up, and not have them for sale, and not have them add to the daily fee of a vendor.

If thats not an option here, maybe it could be?

I see many people mistakenly buying items they didnt want, and noobs not buying stuff because they don't know what it is. The list was so much more user friendly, i don't know why BB wanted it this way.

If I remember correctly there was another thread after this one where Bob said he spoke to Broadband and got the approval to change back to a list. But, it has not been done yet. That has been quite some time ago and may have been forgotten or put on the back burner due to low priority.

It is good that this has been resurected. I have not placed a vendor yet because of this. Those who have seen a pack full of fff will understand why...

If I get time later I may find the other thread and post a link.
