one of our more popular players just lost one of his chests with a lot of things of value in it and and i heard he is quiting because it wont be replaced, well i know of brusier loosing his house and things, on two different occasion's well these individuals are not the kind to try a con, and for the first player i knew what he had in his chest and also can speak for his integrity, these two players are known for helping new players and for that matter any players. i know staff is under presure because they don't know the individuals integrety, but seems so shitty that we loose some players to this sort of thing. i am posting this bug that lost the players chest .on [email protected] and duo said he would look at it maybee in the future this can be fixed. just blowing off steam i guess thx for reading

I have to agree I know zelda and a few others have lost alot of things also that have been given back to them. I know the player you are talking about. Thing that gets me is everyone wonders why vets quit and even if people are not vets and quit. It is the lack of help the things he had in that chest are irreplaceable wepons that take a very long time to aquire. When you take that from a person its not something you find on a normal hunt everyday. Its not something gold can replace. Thing is it shouldnt have to be replaced from the player him self. Things have to be fixed or the server is going to goto hell everyone will quit we will have no vets to look up to things wont be the same. I know of 4-5 VETS im talking people been on here for years that have quit sense I have started on the shard a few months ago. This should obviously tell the gms something is wrong but I see nothing trying to help things out. So if any of you read this bb cyber jorus. You need to fix these things or osi wont be here much longer.

Well losing stuff sure is a damn hassle but when no help is offered it makes the loss even worse. I know the same person you are both mentioning and it is really crappy that there isn't a way to stop it or at least fix it so that we don't lose so many Vets on Obs. If any gms read this - Could you just take into consideration who the person is that reports the problem and what they have done to get there. This person in particular has lost a fair ton of stuff and if you could just notice that they have been a trustworthy member who is always willing to lend a hand. I don't want to sound like a bitcher but I would just like to suggest a reason or way to fix this kind of issue. If the Gms could just look into if the person is trustworthy or not and make a fair judgement from there. It would make things a lot easier for everyone and we might not lose so many vets and players over it.

i agree, dedicated players leaving hurts the game =\ i know it must be tough as staff to make a call in situations like this, but i hate to hear about anyone leaving. especially over something like this that might keep them from ever coming back. i dont know the guy that lost the stuff... but yeah, losing people sucks

i dont know who this guy is yet, but i can feel his pain. the first time i got robbed lost firewoks wand and armour and weapons and stuff, but the wierd thing too was items from my chests vanished aswell, then the second time i lost stuff was when my house vanished, tahts was a gutter, luckily tho i got some of my bruiser crafted armour replaced, but that doesnt make up for losing regs, weapons rare's, 20+ shrunk orns/stangs/oytras and my entire collection of different GM crafted armours (60+ diff GM smiths, including blackrock items). that was hard for me too keep playing i can assure u. but i did, tho i still feel hard done by, regs are hard to gather, rares are Rare's lol and hard to get, ahg well we move on aye.
But also i keep losing individual items from my chests. like runes go missing, sometimes in like 3 days time they reappear, sometimes they dont, also lost regs, randomly, and now just recently 20+ rose ingots seem to ahve vanished, i am the only one with access to the house aswell so they cant be taken by anyone else.

on a side note, the entire vanishing chest thing i know one way of how it can happen, its if u access ur chest from outside the house area (lock down area) it can often just poof with the entire contents, i think that seriously needs looking into.

It's not that bug bruiser, I already made sure that wasn't hte case.

As he said i'm looking into it, if it is a repeating bug i should be able to find it.

On the other side, I suggest you talk to broadband, in this particular incident there is a way to replace the EXACT chest from a previous worldfile, but only broadband can do it, and it can only be done within the next few days.

hey, duo i can't get that site to come up say's it is down.

Tis the nature of the beast or our version of Sphere we run on Obsidian. All the times items get corrupted in the item world file and garbage collection cleans this up. 95% of the time these items are items on monsters or in cities or even random items in people's banks and houses. Noone notices they are gone except when it's a container that has gotten corrupt and the player loses EVERYTHING inside. I don't like the concept of people losing crap anymore than you do but really the only way to restore lost containers like this is to do a full server rollback which if you it was for one person expect a whole bunch of PK coming your way. If it's something simple we try to restore it especially if you are a trustworthy player, but lost GM crafted items, magic weapons, forgetful fish, these are all things that even if we tried to recreate would take FOREVER to do by hand.

Again my appologies, but it's a logistical nightmare rather than a policy or trust issue when it comes to restoring items. In response to Whitecracker, it was very easy to fix him up and did so in like 2 minutes once he listened to me and made a new secure chest. But again a whole chest full of magical armour, weapons, fish, and crafted items would take hours to re-create.

i thank-you for your time in answering this problem and now we under stand it a little more. it's just one of those things that we hope never happens and when it does well its quite a loss to the people it happens to more or less upsetting to everyone because we did not understand why it happened or what to do to prevent it from happening. besides not loading the chests up and i still don't know to what amount is safe,is there any other percausions we can take not to have this sort of thing happen again.

There really aren't. The limits are enforced by the shard, the decay is just normal computer operating, just like internet packet loss. However, i'm currently researching a possible way to restore losses, I'm not sure it'll work on obsidian but it might, so don't get your hopes up.

thank-you cyber and bb and a host of others. i hope something does come of it , one of the bigger issues here on the shard. i know im worried that my trunk will go next being a miner theres no where else to put all your ingots and armour i make, safe storage is a nessesity

i lost all my different Gm crafted items, (an armour item by a differently named GM smith). I had 60+ different smith names and i relaised this would take forever to recreate ( it was done once b4 by exation and hydro, the first time my armours vanished) so as of such i have endeavoured to collect all the items, again, but some are impossible to get now, due to name change or the smith no longer playing, i have like 15 left to collect from my original 60+, was wondering if they could be recreated? i dont care about the regs, and weapons and animals no more as i have already recollected them, its just these armours that i lost

i lost a chanmeil tunic of fort and my black floppy hat yesterday
just vanished into fat air
