Hi guys! I am hoping to get some input from you. I have 3 young newphews who are experiencing a really difficult time. Emotionally, they are shattered, and I really hope to be there for them. The only problem is... I don't have any kids of my own- and I'm female so being honest I don't know how to best relate to three little boys. I really want to create some happy memories for them, memories they will cherish that will help get them through this rough patch. Any suggestions on what i can do? Thanks.

buy them lots of candy
take em to a water park/pool/beach
go fishing!
parks are fun
take them to see a movie
go out to eat somewhere spiffy (like a japanese! where they cook in front of you!)
go bowling
go to a mall
play games (board games, playstation [then again you are a girl... and you probably suck at it], etc)
ice cream!
zoo is cool
duno if they're old enough to like sports...
buy them bubbles! :O
take them shopping somewhere (toys... obviously)
...or give them toys :P
bake stuff! and don't burn it woman... burnt cookies = sad chidrenz
uhm... out of ideas atm.
when all else fails... give them money.

As a kid I always remember the day trips we took to the beach, forrest etc. And yeah fishing rocks, we all had no clue how to hook up, and we were a bit frustrated but at end of day we loved it. Especially when our dad bought us fish and chips on way home.

Dont buy them too much candy, you dont want more obese kids :(

Yeh when I was a kid I remember really enjoying going go-karting. I was also really into football, so maybe take them to see their favourite sports team?

I'm sure that whatever you do for them they will have fun :) Sorry to hear about the rough patch...

Be there for them when they need you, but don't smother them.
I used to spend hours reading with my parents when I was really little. Those were some of the best memories ever.

And try not to let the kids ever see you get into an arguement or a fight, or see you get really upset, cause then they tend to follow the example.

You'll be a great inspiration to them :) By posting this message you've admitted to yourself that you really do care about how they're going and that in itself is the best thing you can ever do for them. :D

Good luck!

Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions and advice. I really appreciate your kind words Echo- it gives me much needed confidence to be there for these little guys. I was able to get some hockey tickets for next weekend (not the NHL) but it's a start. I'm prepared to learn how to bait a hook and toss a baseball, but am guite sure that will be worth a few laughs! Thanks again.

Lol, where I live there's only one kind of fishing.

Get on a boat, or stand on the shore of the river:

Then just fish, catch pickeril, goldeye, walleye, or jackfish. Or go to the lake and catch trout.

Well if there's only one type of fishing then why'd you state 2.. actually three? just wondering, not flaming.

well two... Lake and river. But the lakes you can only catch pretty much one type of fish. But hey, at least we live in a town of 5000 people, we can catch as many fish as we want, not limited to two. The police just don't give a f***.
