 Post subject: Performance Tweaks
PostPosted: Mon May 02, 2005 6:04 am
im currious... obsidian was my first experience with uo so i havn't had any previous backgroud with the game before i started here and really havn't tried to tweak the performance of the game in any way...

im wondering if there is any ways to possibly tweak the performance threw any settings on computer and withen game that dramaticly increase the all around performance..

just curious if anyone has had any luck with doing anything in particular

i have had trouble with this myself. The obs client uses 97-99% of my cpu, just sitting at the bank. When i run on an aos client my cpu usage is like at 20% max. My net speed is not a problem but i have a real prob with obs using up all my cpu laggin me down bad everytime i try and get on

I recently installed a new disk drive and did a disk cleanup/defrag on C: and that has helped tremendously, also if you dont have one download a search and destroy tool from www.downloads.com i recommend the adaware one, keep as much free space as possible on your disk drives and all this will help with lag issues and such, whenever i go into brit now i no longer lag or get stuck after i did the disk defrag

good luck

Yep, I'd say the single best way to improve your performance is to regularly defragment your hard disk. Obsidian seems to be great at making mine messy :)

As for tweaks for obsidian itself, the best person to ask is Duo...

yup about 40-50% cpu usage on mine, for the uo client cpu speed is what counts most from what ive experienced. a gig of ram and a good gfx card doesnt do much for a uo clinet.
