Lockpicking
Skill details:
- Lockpicking is a great
way to get easy money and items.
- The professional rogue wears
minimal clothing and doesn't carry much so treasure hunting through
dungeons doesn't weigh him/her down.
- Stealth
and Hiding are great complimentry skills for
a professional rogue because you ran go over and unlock the chest/crate
and stay hidden while looting the chest/crate.
- It's recommended to buy
lockpicks from your local tinkerer. They
are easy to make for a skilled tinkerer, but they cost 100gp at the
local tinkering shop.
- Chests and crates that are
deeper in dungeons or in harder dungeons are harder to pick and require
a minimum skill to be able to pick. The easiest crates I've found to
pick are Despise level 1.
Skill usage:
Buy lockpicks
from your local tinkering shop or tinkerer.
If you fail you have a chance at breaking some lockpicks,
so keep plenty on you if you are planning a treasure hunt.
Find a dungeon
or fort that has locked chests and crates. Some chests and crates are
simply decoration and are not treasure chests. Once you find "a locked
chest" double click on your lockpicks and target the chest.
When you fail
you have a chance of breaking a lockpick. I was really unlucky and broke
2 on this crate. When successful you will get the message "You successfully
pick the lock!". Go ahead and claim your treasure now you rogue,
err I mean treasure hunter.
If you try to
unlock a chest that is beyond your skill you will get a
message like this: "You can't seem to understand how this lock works."
Do not attempt anymore to unlock this kind of crate or chest.
You will not get skill ups and you will break a LOT of lockpicks.
Come back and try again when you have more skill.
